I remember the first time I went up against this boss being under leveled, because the fight took SO long that I had to leave the PS2 on over night. Second time through I spent the game leveling Persona's though so it was a cake walk...
Side thought... wtf is a cake walk? Also never made the Snow Queen connection, good read. Also the music to this boss fight is just... I loved it so much I learned the guitar part.
I'm assuming that you're talking about how whenever we hear about a female finding herself the subject of scrutiny in the game industry, the initial defense seems to always be "I'm being treated like this because I'm a woman".
Personally I can't blame them; it must be easy to think that way if you work in this business. That said, usually when these things happen I find myself thinking that if a male employee had said or done the same thing, the internet would still rage at them, because it's the internet, and you've gone and fucked up. The feminism defense always seems like something out of a bad 80's television show.
I don't think anyone considers Pachter a genius, and he admits that he's wrong about things pretty often. Gamers usually have an appreciation for companies that chase after their dreams, have original ideas, or make unique experiences. Pachter doesn't jive with that because he comes at the industry from a cold financial stand point. I don't think he's a monster, he's just a man doing his job, and to do his job well as an analyst, he needs to come across as this sort of 100% sure of himself asshole.
