I small (not really) introduction.

I just wrote a review and realized that I haven't made a blog post here yet. I guess I'll start this whole shenanigan by giving you a small introduction.

My name is Bryan Dupont-Gray. I’m a 22 year old senior currently attending University of Houston, currently majoring in Print Journalism and also currently writing for my college newspaper. I mostly write about people and what they do. I also, from time to time, write music and video game reviews.

I have cerebral palsy. According to the U.S National Library of Medicine, cerebral palsy is a disorder in the brain that hinders movement, learning, hearing, seeing, and thinking abilities, and there are different kinds of cerebral palsy depending on the causes. While I don’t know for sure, I do believe rubella could have been the cause….my mother was, and still is, a smoker. I am blind in one eye, completely deaf in the left ear, partially deaf in the right, and I am blind in my right eye (corneal transplant). In addition to this, I firmly believe that I have ADHD, but I haven’t been diagnosed nor have I told my mother that I have problems paying attention, remembering things, and tuning out. Well….I have told someone but, I’ll get to that person later.

Music is also one of my biggest passions aside from writing. I’m heavily fascinated with sounds and how they can cling together in order to structure different melodies, rhythms and harmonies. I don’t play the piano as much as I used to, but when I do, I’m usually sitting there, playing for hours trying to string together different chords on my own ( who needs piano lessons, right?). I have a wide variety in music tastes, but recently I’ve been staying in the realm of hip-hop and R&B. I even enjoy classics like Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, Gladys Knight, The Supremes, and Willie Hutch just to name a few. OFWGKTA has been my new obsession since last year (thanks to Tumblr) and I’ve been eager to meet Tyler, The Creator myself ever since (however, I’m reluctant to go to any of the shows unless they can place me on the side somewhere so I can actually enjoy the show without getting shoved around or hurt in anyway…..I’ve seen the videos and I fear for my safety.) I’m also a rapper on the side, my alias is “Rhyme Scheme”. So far I’ve done one mixtape, which I didn’t really hype up too much because college took too much of my time and I rushed the entire project and therefore, I’m not completely proud of it. I do plan on releasing something more in the future but only time will tell….I don’t have the urge to create anything else at the moment, but I often keep it in mind, so it’s not like I’m completely ditching anything.

I've been a fan of video games ever since I was a child. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Genesis was the first game I ever played. Since then, I found myself delving into the art of it all. My mother found my sitting Indian style in front of the TV playing for hours on end atrocious, but to me it was a match made in heaven. Fast forward through some years of fantasies that were never final, a few fighting in the streets, and my role as an Italian plumber who wore red, and you can pretty much call me a gamer.

I came to this site because I was a fan of Patrick Klepek's work during his tenure with G4 and the fact that I really wanted to get into the video game journalism business. I find this site very intuitive and funky and seeing as how other message boards and gaming communities have always seem to leave an ill feeling in my stomach, Giant Bomb seemed to be a blessing from doctor's orders (Dr. Mario or Nurse Joy, you pick. Either way I feel saved).

What I plan to do with this blog from now on is to take you through my daily thoughts and my opinion's on today's games and the gaming community. I’m going to say right now that it’s going to start off really slow but I plan on doing something really big here. I also plan on making somewhat of a name for myself on this site and hopefully through a few good doors, I may even be hired onto the team that makes Giant Bomb the great site that it is. But I don't want to think to far into the future with that. For now, I'm going to ride the waves and see where this all goes.
