Holy crap! At first I thought this was just a mild bias on behalf of the regular members of the Bombcast. Now I see that a large portion of the Giant Bomb community seems to have a strong mistrust of my home state.

For everyone who thinks Arizona is full of deadly creatures, this is not true. You are thinking of Australia. We do have us some scorpions, but they aren't that big, and the closer you move to the city, the fewer of them you see. I live in a decently urban area, and I haven't gotten any scorpions, and I don't see any spiders larger than the head of a pin.

As to the obvious complaint of heat, it is true. However, it is only true for about three and a half to four months out of the year. For the rest of the year, Arizona has some of the best weather in the U.S. While everyone else is enduring rainy days, snow storms, and tornado warnings, we're sitting around the pool enjoying the 82 degrees and clear skies. And after you've lived here for a while, you really do get used to the dry summer heat. You actually sweat a lot less in Arizona, because every drop evaporates immediately. After visiting some of the balmier locales that I used to live in, I can honestly say I prefer AZ during the summer.

It is true what the Bombcasters said about game development. AZ is not a hotbed of game design. The biggest studio we have here is Rainbow Studios. And it is a little hard to get a job there because they are owned by THQ. (so you have to go through THQ's application system) There's also Cheyenne Mountain entertainment, but I think they might have gone belly-up. (or are about to) They were working on the Stargate MMO, and I think that is falling through. There are a handful of smaller studios working on indie titles, and one newer studio that I believe is called 2XL Games. But on the whole, it's pretty lean pickings here for game jobs.
