Retrogaming

It started with Fallout 2. I watched a trailer for Fallout 3 with effjay and I remembered how much I enjoyed the first two, and I also remembered that I never finished the second. So I dusted off my disc and installed it. Surprisingly it worked right out of the box on Vista. Then effjay turned me on to Giant Bomb and in my quest for the coveted 1000 points, I started uploading screenshots and information about it as I played. Then I started wondering what other old games I could contribute, and the first to come to mind was of course Bard's Tale. I managed to scrounge up a copy and got it working with DOSBox. It's a simple game, yes, but somehow still satisfying -- pure blood and loot. I find myself playing it more now than Fallout 2. And now I'm remembering other retro games I could scrounge for -- Ultima, Wizard's Crown, Pool of Radiance, Temple of Apshai. At least until Fallout 3 comes out.
