Drinking the right way

I don’t get people who buy cheap booze and get hammered.

When I go out and buy alcohol I tend to buy expensive rum. (I’m a rum-person and my favorite is El Dorado 21 years)

But instead of drinking it all in one night I sit with a glass and enjoy it over the course of about an hour.

And because I do this not every week I believe that it cost, in the long run, the same as getting hammered every weekend.

Don’t you agree?

I think it's possible to do both.  Usually when we have friends over, I make the drinks for everyone.  People usually average about a drink an hour, with some going faster and some going slower, but by the end of the night, we're all where we want to be.  Then again, we do throw in the random shots throughout the night.

However, I'll agree with a drink you can enjoy.  Also, I much prefer liquor and mixed drinks to any kind of beer and most malted beverages.

I my self enjoy a nice glass of whiskey on the rocks. I suppose I agree, if I am buying expensive I tend to go for Crown Royal, if I am buying cheap I go for Seagram's Vo or 7. For me it depends on the occasion as well as how much money I have. When I can buy a 1.75 L for 24 dollars of VO I'll go with that over a $64 1.75L of Crown Royal. Sometimes you just need to go with your cheaper side, why because its cheap!

I really don't get rum people.

When I go out and buy alcohol, I tend to buy cheap beer (I'm an alcohol-person and my favorite is Natural Light, 21 minutes).

If I somehow have extra money, it'll be good beer or good whiskey.  But I guess I am technically an alcoholic...

You can't drink the right way. To each his own. If you're trying to tell people your way is better you're a pompous ass.

I agree, I don't go out of my way to drink stuff that tastes like gasoline.

Exactly the op is talking about two kinds of drinking each with different goals.
