Strange Red Ring Action!! RROD!! :S

I suppose the RED RING OF DEATH is one of those things you don't read about or research until it actually happens to you............well guess what, it happened last night playing SFIV!

But I'm not sure how it came about because after 2 and a bit years of owning the console its been pretty much fine, the odd lock-up and freeze now and again but I guess thats common place nowadays, anyway it rarely overheats as it sits out in the open and is well ventilated.

No my problem is I can turn on the 360.....all is fine, I can do whatever I want (access memory, boot-up game, play an Arcade title) for around 3 mins and then the system locks up, turn it off, turn it back on, 3 Red Rings, turn it off, turn it on, fine....green lights and another 3 mins of magic!!

Am i kidding myself in thinking I can work round this or is it truly DEAD?? Has anyone else had the same issue??

I called them last month at first they claimed that they were no longer sending out boxes, just call back and beg for a box.

"Exact same issue. Your system will most likely get progressively worse until you cant even get to the dashboard without getting the ring. You can try the towel trick as a temporary fix while you sort things out. Just YouTube it, I think  its easy to find. Basically you use the towel to overheat your xbox and then it magically works for a few hours. But yeah, you will need a new Xbox eventually."
thanks for the info, i think i'm gonna resist using it at all and wait til i need to access it for Profiles and game saves after seeing the Red Elite (with Jasper) that launches next week, looks like that has my name written on it!! ;)

Don't use the the "Towel Trick" anyone who has done that needs to be shot in the face. Call Microsoft today and have them send you a box, get it fixed right rather than have your house burn down.
