Robopengy: Best of 2010

List items

  • Definitely the highlight of the year. Takes all the best tropes from classic Westerns, turns them on their ear, and sets them loose in open world madness like Rockstar does best.

  • Capcom reminded me why I love fighting games this year with what is possibly the best fighting game in recent memory.

  • The best entry in one of my favorite franchises. I was expecting a tacked on single player, but instead was blown away by the story telling. The multiplayer was also addicting enough to pull me away from Ezio's tale for hours on end.

  • I bought this for a quick 1800s RTS fix. Steam now says I've logged 135 hours in it. Nuff said.

  • Every time I try to get out, Blizzard keeps pulling me back in. I think I've quit WoW twice this year and every time I come back to Azeroth to invest more and more hours in the loot grind.

  • I bought this as a joke and ended up playing it for hours with my friends. This is the greatest case for "bad being good" I've ever seen.

  • It's true Limbo is stylistically beautiful but I found the most fun thing was playing it in a room full of people and passing the controller every five deaths. Party game of the year.

  • Though it definitely did not live up to its potential, my love for the source material drew me to this game and once I was in, the art direction didn't let me go.

  • Many hours of sleep were lost to this game and its never ending grind to become King. Even the graphics weren't off putting, instead it reminded me of PC games I played in my younger days when graphics weren't important.

  • Other developers should take note, this is how long a game should be when you plunk down $60. Gorgeous landscapes and a deep combat system were all well and good, but it was the story that kept me putting the disk in again and again.
