Don't worry about challenge mode, it is indeed what the title suggests, a challenge. I had a hard time pulling off some of the combos. As for tips on how to get better, definitely keep practicing. It's not as hard as you think! Try some different characters around. As I am sure you already know or have been suggested to do, start practicing with Ryu. Ryu is a pretty well rounded character, and learning the basics with him will help you learn the basic movement inputs with over half of the characters. It will really help you nail that QCP + P combination of buttons. You will be doing them like they were nothing!

Once you have that down, it is really easy to get past most of the Easy arcade modes. Once you can do that confidently, it is all up to practice. It's not that you suck, it is more that you have not memorized the timing of how the game is played. The more you play, the easier it will be to recognize when characters are vulnerable and when a good time to attack is. Also, try not to be too aggressive, that is definitely a mistake that many newcomers make.

Ryu is good for a lot of the characters, but it is also good to practice with some characters that have charge moves, such as E. Honda, Guile, and Blanka. These characters can be very effective, and you may like their style more than characters similiar to Ryu.

Anyway, just keep at it! Once you break into it, you will really enjoy it and you will see why it has so many hardcore fans!

Definitely a good choice if you are in the market for an arcade stick. There are a lot of choices for the OP, however.

The Hori EX 2 satseb referred to is exactly the same as the Soul Caliber 4 edition which is also for XB360/PS3. The only noticeable difference between these and the Street Fighter IV edition is the weight; the EX2 and Soul Caliber 4 editions are a little lighter than the SF4 edition.

So it all comes down to whether you would like to save a couple of bucks or shell out a lot of extra money for a nice collectable. Hey, if you like SC4, you could consider that one a collectable too! :)

Personally, I would go with the EX 2. It is a pretty standard, cheap but effective arcade stick.

This is kind of a tough question to answer, but I will try my best:

SF4 is a great game, we all know that, but it might not be for you.  A lot of the techniques used in SSF2THDR are used in SF4. That being said, if you are bad at SF2, you probably won't be much better in SF4. As for the tutorials in the game, well I  wouldn't quite call them "in-depth". I feel like it is not really meant to be a tutorial mode, more of a Challenge mode as the title itself suggest. In this mode, you are challenged to perform combos to earn medals. I can see how this could help someone learn some very specific combos and maybe some timing, but it will not help you learn when to use these combos. They will help you learn somewhat, but they are definitely not tutorials for how to play the game.

The real question is, did you have fun playing SSF2THDR? If not, I definitely  wouldn't get SF4.  If you did enjoy it, however, SF4 may be worth a purchase. Check out your friend's copy before you buy it, you may find that it's too similar.

Hope that helps. :)

So, at first I was kind of mad about the whole "NES graphics" thing. I would have preferred the SNES or PS graphics. But, after this "box art", I am pretty much in love. In a scale of 10 to 10, this game is a 9,000 in awesome.

Just from past experiences with forums, it seems like the people who become moderators get the job naturally. They don't ask for it or apply, they are just really good at being great forum members, and tend to mesh well with the rest of the community.

"Stars are fine, but I'd rather have no ratings at all. People are too score inflated, if something doesn't score over 8.0, it's a bad game in their eyes. A review should be enough and help you decide or atleast get a sense of what the reviewer thought. A score should just be a guide-line along with the review. Scores are ruining the industry, just look at Metacritic. It's just statistics and it doesn't mean much, but look at how companies look into that! It's all about the metacritic scores and all that, it prevents good games from being made it they don't score this and that on metacritic, and the fact that metacritic just translates odd scores that don't fit into say 100 points, they just mash 'em into their own 100 point scale.

It's just dumb. What happened to common sense anyway? So yeah, less scores! More emphasis on reviews and reading the reviews. Not scrolling by and looking at the score!
"
Very well put. Once the 10 point scale is used, there is too much to look at. People start comparing games too closely to eachother. It's too easy for someone to say something like,

"How did Gears of War get a 10 in graphics and Halo 3 get an 8?! You guys suck"

I feel like the 5 star system works way better. It's easier to get an overall feel for the quality of the game, as opposed to being super objective with a 10 point scale.

So, this part of the site is a little weak right now. Anyway, so the discussion is "What are your favorite iPhone games". Sure, I could go look at the reviews in the iTunes store, but they are usually really bad. And I don't want to spend $10 on Super Monkey Ball just to figure out that I don't like it.

Anyway, as for my choices, I am really digging Aurora Feint. It's like the iPhone version of Puzzle Quest. Really fleshed out, there is a lot of stuff to do and a lot of stuff planned for the future of it. And its free! That's my kind of price.

Yeah, it's slow for everyone. Their servers are getting SLAMMED, hardcore style. Think about it, almost everyone who comes here today is doing more than just looking at the site. Almost every visitor is signing up, editing wiki, posting their firsts blogs/reviews, etc. It would be hard for any server to keep up with all this traffic.

I really like the new dashboard, it's damn sleek. But, I really wish that it were optional, you know incase it's not as good as it looks. But I feel like there are too many new dashboard-specific features in it that could not be done in the old dashboard, so it most likely will not happen that way.
