It already includes those who speak English as a second language. Are you getting your figures from a different source? Also, the English language should be represented by the English flag. Because no one even recognizes the English flag outside of England. "
Oh, wow. I didn't actually look at the figures, but they are way off. Look at how different this other wikipedia estimate is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_English-speaking_population (23% vs 12% of India)
Also, all of those figures are from 2001. A lot has changed. It's really hard to get really accurate estimates for language proficiency (ie. where's the cut off - intermediate mid? intermediate low?, etc.), but there are mos def more EN speakers in India now than there were in 2001.
" There are more English-speakers in America than in the UK. It has nothing to do with claiming things or getting things wrong. It's statistics. There are a lot of things Americans deserve "abuse" for, but this isn't one of them. Not even close. "
I bet there's more English speakers in India than in the USA. "
This problem exists for all pluricentric languages. Valve probably also uses a German flag to denote German (as opposed to an Austrian or Swiss flag) and a Spanish flag to denote Spanish (despite all the South American countries where Spanish is spoken). There's no easy way around it.
@DirtyData: Thanks for the advice. However, I saw that page, and it unfortunately didn't help. I just tested the controller with my laptop, and it's not working on that anymore either. Is it possible that the controller itself needs to be "reset" somehow? Or is it just broken? I just tested my Street Fighter IV gamepad on both computers, and it still works fine, so I'm leaning towards thinking there's a major problem with the standard xbox 360 controller itself. Any last ditch reset ideas? Or should I really just get a new controller? It just feels like it would be such a shame to have to get a new one since it's still in pristine mechanical condition.
I was just starting to play DiRT 2 and my wired XBOX 360 controller stopped working all of a sudden. Now when I plug it in, I get the message: USB device not recognized and it's reported as code 43
I've tried installing the official Microsoft driver, though that seems horribly unnecessary. I've tried uninstalling everything under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in the device manager, but that didn't do anything. I turned the computer off and turned off the power supply for a couple minutes. Nothing has helped. I'd really appreciate any insights. Thanks!
