@fear_the_booboo:

Diablos doesn't need any elements to hit you like a truck.

As for finding out what they use, you either fight them on a test run or look it up online. Also always carry Nulberries with you because elemental attacks can hit you with Blight statuses, which have detrimental effects or make you weaker to that element. Legi's iceblight will affect your stamina and make its ice attacks more dangerous, so Nulberry that shit away.

And yes, there are some carve only rewards, and capping does increase your chances at some of the rarer stuff. Capping is definitely a good choice on monsters that are a bigger pain when they're near death (like good old Diablos), because some, like 'blos, are pretty much permanently enraged when you get them down to limping state.

Spoilered for moon stuff

Roshi blows up the moon in DB, to stop Goku from rampaging. The real question is when did the moon get brought back.

@john1912:

The game is far from shallow, it's probably one of the deepest action games on the market.

You have a multitude of tools at your disposal for dealing with pretty much anything the game throws at you. If you're frustrated with monsters spending too much time in the air, get some flash pods in your slinger and shoot them in front of them, or hit one of the flashbugs that sometimes just fly around in certain areas. Any flying monster that gets flashed immediately falls to the ground and is stunned for a short time, and won't immediately start flying again. Very good against the two Raths.

Or use the Insect Glaive, it can vault very high in the air and no hovering monster is out of its reach, plus you add its ability to land a mount, bringing the monster instantly to the ground upon success.

Or use a ranged weapon like the bow or either bowgun and shoot them out of the sky.

I played like 200 hours of 4U with randoms only, and it was fine.

I usually feel "complete" with a MH game after about 200 or so hours. For a lot of people, that's pretty low. You can get a LOT of time out of a single game, and this one has an easier way of introducing new content since it's not on a weak portable device. They've already got a fan-favorite monster in the pipe for a spring release.

As for how long the game will have a community, hard to say. 4U came out in 2015 and as of a few months ago I still could find full online rooms. Not many, mind you, but enough to scratch that hunting itch, since I skipped out on Generations.

i've never played a monster hunter before, but always liked the idea of it. I just played the beta the first two missions, but i'm not getting a good feel for the moment to moment gameplay really. Is it just hunting the big dudes or are you free to do other stuff? I just feel the big battles don't really happen that organicly? or maybe that's just the beta?

The fighting is fun and exciting though, although i sometimes do moves i can't repeat. Like i was playing with the dual blades and i suddenly jumped off a wall and didn't know how the heck i did that :D

It's mostly doing quests where you hunt big monsters, or sometimes small monsters. I don't know about World but in previous games there were also gathering quests so you can just safely go harvest materials for bullets/potions/etc, plus some dumb ones like go steal a Rathian egg and turn it in at the camp (these quests sucked). But for the most part, it's hunting. There's also a free hunt exhibition area with no timers where big monsters will appear.

Hunt big monsters, kill them, get their parts, make new equipment that will help you kill other monsters. Stuff like, oh hey I need a fire weapon because my next hunt is weak to fire, maybe I'll kill a bunch of Rathalos and make some dual blades from his parts, those will be Fire element.

No Nier: Automata makes this a bad list :P

Also as a big Persona fan I really kinda hate P5. Bad dungeons, characters I didn't like, unmemorable music with a singer who I wasn't a fan of, s-links I didn't care for, and sexualized fanservice that undermines its own messages (Ann was sexually victimized by a teacher, but lets do jokes about looking up her skirt or peeking at her see-through sweaty clothes).

But then again I think I'm in the minority about this.

@clagnaught:I've seen that video recommended more than once so I think I will watch that later!

@zeik I'm not going to play Nier but I considered watching the Best Friends playthrough...then I saw it's 33 parts. Sorry, I don't think I have time to commit to that.

I've got another question for everyone. I hear this game has a million endings...so how does that work? are all these endings worth it? Do I unlock a mega ending if I do all of them? Should I shoot for one or two endings and then drop it? enlighten me.

A-E are the main endings and complete the story. You just play them in a row, it's not hard to figure out.

F-Z are jokes. You can get these by dying in the wrong place, killing the wrong person, or running the wrong way (usually away from story missions).
