I get pissed whenever someone supports an objectively incorrect opinion or an opinion with little to no support from other resources. It's not just trolls; I'm also talking about anyone who wants to see what they want to see despite given the information about a topic. It's as if they want the world their way and no one else can say otherwise.
I know there's been a stir of an extreme version of these people in numerous forms (GamerGate followers, some well-meaning game journalists*, politicians), but I'm also talking about people who are too dense to see beyond their own beliefs of a topic to see obvious facts.
For example, it ticks me off so much when someone says something like Deadly Premonition or Wayward Pines is "just like Twin Peaks" just because it takes place in a northwestern town where mysterious things happen. Twin Peaks is (initially) a straight-forward murder mystery soap opera that has a few supernatural things occur in it. For proof, look no further than the actual show with its occasional showings of Invitation to Love, an in-fiction soap opera with scenes mimicking the events within the actual show itself.
I'm surprised you didn't get the feeling you're not actually playing as the original Big Boss from the opening sequence. Both Ishmael and Ahab seem to be separate people; I'm not sure where the real Snake is, but I think Ishmael is connected to (or even is) Big Boss. Also, Big Boss from Metal Gear 1 doesn't have a large amount of scars nor does he seem to have a mechanical arm.
If we accept Ishmael is at least related to Big Boss, this brings into question who Ahab is.
I rarely tend to play with other people due to a lack of friends online. I would really love to use something like this when playing Borderlands 2 for the upteenth time.
I feel the best response to Troy's joke would have been to just not respond to it. Look at it, internally tell yourself, "That's a dumb joke, Troy," and move on to the next tweet.
He would have gotten that the joke bombed, and he would have moved on with his life, as well.
Don't make a deal about something dumb, especially if it's objectively dumb.
Given the recent news of his passing, I became aware of Satoru Iwata's positive influence on not only Nintendo but those who played his games. From the eulogies and his history at Nintendo, it seems as though Mr. Iwata was a decent enough man. However, I keep thinking about previously wonderful people like Bill Cosby and the Elmo voice, and I'm so scared we'll find out in about a decade that Mr. Iwata was doing something terrible or was connected to some horrible thing.
I really don't want to hear about that one time Mr. Iwata maybe diddled a child while developing Kirby at HAL. Is anyone else secretly fearing some terrible rumors popping up about his personal life?
P.S. I also hope Mr. Miyamoto didn't do anything weird or scandalous when he envisioned his ideas for Mario and Zelda.
P.P.S. What was the reason for all of those women strapped to those DS machines that one year?
