New Year, new blog, old games!

Greetings Giant Bombers!

Ryman here with a new blog on Giant Bomb! Now though you might be asking yourself this question....

"Who the heck is Ryman?"

A very valid question, as it seems the username 'Ryman' is already taken on almost every other online website/service/game in the history of everything, I got reeeeeeal lucky when signing up for Giant Bomb.

As for who I am specifically, all I can say for certain is that I live in Scotland UK, I really like video games (duh) & rock n roll, have a passing interest in Gadgets & PC Technology as well as anime (tho finding good anime that isn't disturbingly pervy is extremely difficult these days), spend far too much time on the internet & that both of the following are me :

Thus ends the thinly veiled attempt to plug my youtube channel & twitter, onto games!

Video games are definitely my favourite way to spend my free time, there's just something about involving yourself in the experience & affecting it directly rather than just reading it in a book or watching it unfold on TV. I own all 3 current consoles as well as a PC, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, DS Lite & 3DS. There's also a broken PS2 Slim lying around here somewhere, must've given up ghost after too many months playing God Hand, may it rest in peace. ;_;

Behold, the greatest PS2 game ever made.

Man I loved that game, I might even go as far as to say it's my favourite PS2 game ever. Period. That's kind of strange considering I probably play shooters more than any other genre, but that might be down to not being able to turn a corner without bumping into yet another shooter, be it first or third-person. The other contributing factor could be my love of the PC as a gaming platform. fuelled by classics such as Doom, Unreal & in particular Half-Life which fortunately popularised the now common WASD control setup for almost every PC action game. My fingers thank you Valve. (no dirty thoughts now!)

On the console side of things I was a Nintendo fanboy for a long time. Then support for the Gamecube just stopped and I caved in & acquired a PS2 initially for God of War, then I would go through a Devil May Cry phase (infact, the 'te' from Rymante comes from Dante) before discovering the almighty God Hand that all must worship at the of the PS2's lifecycle.

But that's the past, what about now?

Right now I find myself in a situation I often find myself in, lots of game to play from my backlog and no idea where I want to start. Well almost no idea, it'll probably be a PC game because Steam makes it so goddamn easy & cheap to get TONS of great games, it's not a perfect service (f**k the cloud, it just causes me problems) but they must be doing something right if I've bought over 150 games from them...........damn it's a wonder I have any money left.

Trine 2 - Quirky, random, & beautiful. I can't wait to pick up the full game!

Competitive Multiplayer doesn't always interest me, one of the current exceptions being Modern Warfare 3 on the 360, but I think that's partly to do with a lack of shared interest among my gaming friends, always bouncing from game to game & never standing still or just generally being busy with real life priorities. When I do get together to game with friends, co-operative games are the preferred choice, whether it's more mainstream offerings like Gears of War 3's Horde mode, or something quirky & random on a whim, like that Trine 2 Demo playthrough I posted on my youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGf0Vw1wxMo

Kudos to you if you're still reading this! Hopefully I haven't bored you too much with what ended up being a retelling of my gaming history somewhat, what can I say? I like games and sometimes get passionate about them. Perhaps the future will hold more entries onto this blog, it should at least hold more videos from my Amnesia : The Dark Descent Let's Play on my channel and it will defintely involve me getting lost in Mass Effect 3 and getting all bro'ed up with my favourite Turian, Garrus Vakarian aka the freakin non human MAN! [fistbump]

Oh wait, I just plugged my channel again didn't I? Whoops! In addition to youtube & twitter, Rymante is also my PSN & Xbox Live gamertag.

Until next time folks! ^_^
