Favorite Videogame Characters

Here is my list of my all time favorite video game characters. These characters will span over several consoles and several years.

List items

  • Gadwin: Gadwin is the mentor of the main character in Grandia. He is the game's resident good guy badass. He's so badass that when you first face him you have no choice but utter defeat buy his epic move Dragon Cut or as he calls it "DRAGON KING SLICE!" which causes the earth to shatter and shake and makes beams of light come flying out from beneath the player's feet. Simply... awesome

  • Falco Lombardi, the resident Jackass of the starfox team. Being the resident Jackass of my group of friends, I find Falco to be quite the character. With his smartass remarks and his ability to find the "real" boss in the first level of star fox 64, Falco Lombardi is in my opinion the best member of the star fox team, especially compared to slippy

  • Mario better back the F*** up. Meet Urdnot Wrex, the koopa who has taken steroids, horse tranquilizers, and every other performance/muscle enhancing drug that has and ever will be created. Wrex is the member of the Krogan species, a civilization of just as equally badass alien Koopas who are known for their badassness. I mean seriously, their badassness was so... badass that a bunch of good guy aliens had to band together and create a gene that basically stopped them from reproducing, curbing the impending badassness.

  • He's short, girls would call him cute, he's fuzzy, and he's hilarious. Daxter is a character who has great traits for both genders of gamers which makes him awesome right there. So many times have I shared my adoration for a character only to have some of my friends (those that are girls) shut down my opinion and then go gaga over some fuzzy animal they see on screen or what not. With Daxter there is no such problem. Daxter's main awesome feature is his comic wit. He's funny and idiotic and yet at times has a good head on his shoulders. The character is never boring to watch. Not to mention he breaks the fourth wall at least once or twice in the games which is always a plus.

  • I don't have many characters from the Warcraft universe that I would put on this list, aside from my own WoW character haha. Sylvanas Windrunner though, is one of my favorite characters in the universe. Having been turned into Arthas's slave, Sylvanas went from mighty ranger, to lowly banshee and then one game later turned into the Queen Bitch of her own faction of Undead and managed to not look all zombie like at the same time, now that's cool. She's basically like Kerrigan, just not so evil I would guess

  • Just like with Sheik, this jolly penguin is on my list merely for my love of SSBB. King DeDeDe is Kirby's nemesis and yet sometimes good pal, so it's hard to label him as a "bad guy." I think he's secretly nice. Nevertheless this santa clause looking Penguin can own the brawl maps with his gigantic hammer and infinite amount of minions. His fighting style, although very unique and full of weaknesses, is very fun to play. MINIONS!

  • Just to note, I'm adding BLUE to my list, not so much as Gary Oak. Those who know enough about pokemon know that Ash/Gary and their videogame counterparts are similar but not quite the same. Anyway, Blue is every pokemon trainer in our world. He strives to own everyone in pokemon awesomness and picks badass pokemon. Blue is the reason why I now have a liking to Nidoking.

  • Probably the least badass of my favorite characters ever, yoshi is still awesome. It could be that green is my favorite color but this guy is my favorite thing to come out of nintendo! mario party- im f***ing yoshi! mario kart- I'm f***ing yoshi!

  • It's been awhile since I've played tales of symphonia (one of my favorite rpg's btw) but I still remember this badass. He reminded me of another version of Gadwin (see my list) in that he was the main characters badass mentor and served as a "father figure" cough cough.

  • If you need to read a description to understand how awesome and badass Auron is then you need to go play ffx right now! enough said

  • Say what you will. I liked the first halo game knowing absolutely nothing about it except for the one time I played it at a friend's house and got hooked. I didn't even have an xbox at the time. Nevertheless this faceless badass led me through the halo universe that I came to become enthralled in. Sad to say I am a halo fanboy at heart, not that I hold the games higher than most but I hold the universe higher than most. Master Chief is compelling as both a typical shoot-em-up badass as well as a very compelling character overall

  • Knuckles, Sonic's first badass character. Sure sonic was cool, but he wasn't a badass; he didn't have spikes for KNUCKLES! Sonic could run fast but Knuckles could do that and cause shit, that's why he is awesome, plus the hairstyle is pretty badass too

  • I haven't played much of FFVII. I was too young when it came out but a year or two ago I bought it to see what the fuss was about all that time ago. I'll admit, as far as I got, it was a good game but I'm happy to say I didn't fall under the stereotypical Final fantasy guy and worship cloud/or sephiroth. When I saw this guy, Red XIII, I immediately knew he was my favorite character in the game, and he still is.

  • Of course this guy is going to be on my list, after all his name is two letters shy of the username I've used since I was about 11. Ryudo is made more badass because he makes the first game's main character look like a whimp. Ryudo is also so badass that he gets a holy priestess and a demonic woman (who are the same person to make it better) fall in love with him, oh and look at the damn hawk, +20 badass points

  • Sora was an annoying child in the first Kingdom hearts game. But then he grew up a little and wasn't so whiney and in Kingdom Hearts 2 he gained my approval. You gotta appreciate Sora, he is constantly dealing with very depressing issues with running the risk of losing his friends constantly, having no real "home," and constantly battling the core of everything that is bad, the kid has a lot on his plate. His ability to still keep up makes him a badass character.

  • While thinking of characters to add to this list of mine I began to daydream of the old xbox days. I remembered this game that I rented and played only for a week or two but would remember it forever, in fact I bought it last year just to have it. Stranger, from Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, is quite the badass. Think of the oddworld version of clint eastwood. Yep, you get this guy. Just look at the crossbow and that badass hat and you will have all the explanation you need as to this characters badassness

  • The Shepard in the picture used by Giantbomb is not MY Shepard. My Shepard is way cooler than the default and would kick that guy's ass. There in lies the awesomness that is Commander Shepard. Bioware has managed to take the whole create your own character feature now common in most games and take it to the next level. Not only do you make your own character but you end up becoming attached to your own character. Bioware has successfully, and other would agree, made it so that people just can't play another shepard. I myself have made new games and tried to make a new face but I can't help but feel as if I'm abandoning an old friend or cheating on someone. Knowing that I'm playing some imposter while my real human race saving hero is in solitude on my 360's hard drive waiting for my return. The attachment players make with their own Shepard makes him or her one of the best videogame characters ever

  • Meet my people in Elder Scrolls IV. When choosing a character I was asked: "Wanna b a human? -that's lame" "how about a red guy? - also lame" "an elf? -gay" "a dark elf? we're getting there"

When I saw that I could be a humanoid reptilian beast I made my mind up almost immediately. Since then, if ever I remade an elder scrolls character, I made it as one of these guys, regardless of the abilities I chose.
