never stop being complete shit, giantbomb comments.

They're not bad all the time - just when someone is trying to have an adult conversation.

I'd characterize it more as "Grrrrr, I don't like having my viewpoints challenged. Can't we just get back to talking about the graphics on level 3?"

The worst part is it's not necessarily even about directly challenging or overturning their viewpoints; I guess the very act of acknowledging that someone feels differently about things than they do flips whole worldviews like some Fresh Prince shit.

Patrick left out the most important part of his tweet: "Great actor, good man. The game will probably still be excellent. Like New Coke!"

Haha, damn. Yeah, that's not exactly "taking it in stride."

I guess the whole Hayter thing isn't some weird publicity stunt, after all?

I really don't understand why people are so upset about it this, what was the last amazing star wars game? KoToR, which is easily 10 years old at this point. I personally liked Force unleashed 1, but that's easily 5 years ago. It's not like licensing games out to different companies was yielding great results every time, for every star wars lego you had 2-3 Kinect Star Wars. Someone was going to snatch this up and they had to be big, so that's who? EA, Activision, Ubisoft? There's not a lot of other companies with the money to support this franchise. So I'll chalk the reactions I'm seeing under generic internet rage.

Yeah I don't get it either. Of the realistic possibilities, EA is the one who has the studios (between Visceral, DICE and Bioware) that seem like they could best realize the different types of Star Wars games most people would want.

Maybe they don't want them to give Exclusive rights to ANY Huge publisher that's going to try to squeeze every penny out of the license? Maybe license them on a game-by game basis, so that they're only approving good games, instead of just giving it to EA so they can make some cash in every year.

Not to mention that EA has had several high profile failures in the recent past that are still fresh in a lot of people's minds.

OK that's it, I have to say it:

Fuck this kind namby-pamby indie game.

I'm sick of all the games in recent years that want to make me "feel" something. Just shut up. I'm 33 years old, I've been been playing video games my whole life and am certainly a million miles from being a "bro gamer". I'm looking for interesting game mechanics as much as the next gamer.

I swear it's crap like this that makes people crave a game that just gives them a gun and something to shoot at.

God forbid different things than what you want exist! How dare they! 99/100 games are exactly what you want, but every once in a while....

That's what gets me about bullshit responses like tjuk's: there are literally thousands of games that embody the, "fuck this I just wanna have fun" aspect of the medium, with more coming out all the time; but then whenever something different like this or Cart Life garners attention people crawl out of the woodwork to bitch. I guess I can't comprehend the solipsistic mindset that leads to attitudes like, "I don't care about this particular thing, so why should it even exist?"

I once pulled a similar stunt riding my bike home from a friend's house and tore my knee up pretty bad in the process. Coincidentally, that was the same night that my mom rented me Bubsy 3D. Yeah.

I find it hard to imagine Half-Life and Portal translating that well into movies. Maybe Abrams can do it, but I doubt it.

A film adaptation of the adventures of Gordon Freeman would probably be terrible, but the weird background fluff of the Half-Life setting (the Seven Hour War and other assorted G-man/Combine shit) seem right in Abrams' wheelhouse.
