I would love a definitive video from someone about the state of fighting sticks on the PS5. I just went through hell trying to buy one for Virtua Fighter and I still need an adapter to get the thing to run...so that means I need a stick that plugs into an adapter that's plugged into my PS5 and a PS4 or PS5 controller plugged into my fighting stuck as well...
I love GG but I think I'm going to wait for this to be on sale.
I played the demo for Anthem back in the day and didn't like it much at all so I skipped the full game. I did, in the last 2 weeks, buy a sealed copy of Anthem for $5. I booted it up on PS4, played it a bit and feel the same way about it...BUT my connection to the servers crashed several times all while in the single player hub zone.
Cool
I also found myself skipping conversations as all the characters were annoying me. Didn't seem like there was anything but dailies, weeklies, etc added in? Combat very much felt designed around co-op. The mission setup and everything around that did not feel very intuitive. Flying around is fun, combat was just "eh", and literally none of the story or characters seem interesting.
This has been the best game of the year deliberations we've had in YEARS.
My only big of confusion is how Jeff keeps saying the Avengers' campaign is good...to each their own but it is definitely not good from either a "things you do", "how it plays", or "writing". I don't even see how Jeff, specifically, is the one arguing the campaign is good as all of the Kamala stuff that's "good" is pretty front loaded.
Also, I don't see how Phantasy Star Online 2 was supposed to ever be on this list. That's a pretty known quantity. That's like getting a Mass Effect 3 re-release and complaining about the ending. You knew what you were getting into. Like Jeff said, that game was wrong 8 years ago so there was 0 chance that would change on its slapdash North American release.
I think that "Most Distressing Game" was a poor name for the category. Even after having listened to everything "most distressing" just sounds differnet from something like "Hottest mess".
Lego games have had open world for a long time. Even Lego Marvel, the best Lego game, had it and probably something before even it...and that was 2013?
