Am I the only one that thinks Manveer is talking out of his ass with the review vs. criticism thing? Surely you can't have one without the other...right? The review is there to point out the good things and criticise the bad things. If the reviewer finds the design of a game to be boring, isn't that as valid a criticism as saying the graphics suck balls?

What would a criticism free review even sound like? Every single such review would boil down to something like "when you push the button the guy moves, 5 stars".

So would you say it'd be similar to FF: Tactics and the like?

The only similarity is that they are both Tactical/SRPGs aside from that, no. Disgaea is about as strategic as scratching your balls, personally I like these games because you have to use your brain a little, Disgaea however very quickly descends into a mindless grind and exploiting certain stages to power level like hell. If you like that sort of thing then go ahead, but I would recommend other games in the genre ahead of any Disgaea game ( Tactics Ogre, FF:T, Shining Firce, Fire Emblem etc.).

Not saying Disgaea games are bad, they are very good, but I prefer other games in the genre. Can anyone say anything about La Pucelle? I got it years ago but never got very far into it, seemed cool though, had some interesting characters, might give it another go in the future.

The Phantasy Star games on Genesis/Mega Drive are pretty good. I got the Sega Mega Drive Collection which is on PS2, 360 and I'm sure other consoles as well. It has all the Phantasy Star games if buying the original cartridges is too expensive.

Expensive indeed. I'll add the Shining Force games on Mega Drive (Gen), which are great and you can get them on steam for almost nothing along with Landstalker (more action oriented) I think they are in the Genesis Collection pack 3 (maybe 4)

Just going to point out that Sony didn't consider the release of the PS3 as being the end of the PS2's life cycle.

This. That thing is still around.

Yeh, they are just trying to avoid pulling a SEGA, when they said the Saturn "isn't the future" or whatever they pretty much killed it in one sentence. Does not mean a new console isn't coming.

Also, lol @ thinking than nintondo can take advantage of anything at this point.

Nintendo is.

¥11 trillion revenue in 2011, quite impressive as that is pretty much solely from gaming products.

What is impressive is that you just pulled that straight out of your ass. Might want to check your figures, their total assets don't even come close to that, let alone revenue. Profits have been tumbling for the last few years, they made a net loss of almost $ billion in the first half of 2011 and Nintendo themselves have predicted a loss (for the first time in 30 years mind) of about 20 bn yen to april ( $260+ mil).

Actually I got it off Wikipedia and for some reason an extra 1 was added after I pasted it in here, it was formatted as a list and after I removed it I didn't notice the number left in.

Cool your jets, son.

Ahh wikipedia, that bastion of knowledge and accurate information. You should probably be made aware that revenue ≠ profit, and you should also probably refrain from making arguments where you don't understand the information or what you are arguing about.

Wikipedia is fine when citations are given and on the page that information is from they are, as I said it was a misquote because of a formatting error. Nintendo's revenue was 1 trillion yen in 2011, instead of belittling it maybe you yourself should check that out. There was nothing wrong with what I said aside from the additional 1 being carried over. Profits being down doesn't mean they are close to being out, which was my original point. It's no secret they aren't printing money like they were now that the Wii has fizzled out.

You should probably refrain from taking this further, because I have no interest in continuing this so it will be nothing but wasted keystrokes that I won't be reading the result of.

I did, and that figure still means squat in the grand scheme of things and my point still stands, don't go flapping your gums when you dont understand the issue. There is a great deal wrong with what you said and "Lalalala I'm not listening" is not a very good response kiddo, but one you would expect from a windbag on the internet. Have a nice life though.

@Dixavd: Did the illuminati lizard people tell you all of that? All you have to do is look at sales over the last year, that will tell you all you need to know about consoles v PCs over the last year. Hell, even FPS games are way more popular on consoles, who would have guessed.

Nerds need to put down their Nintendo glasses, that company is struggling and have made some real bad decisions. It would be sad, as they are an institution at this point, but no one is too big to fail in a competitive gaming market, and it is possible that Microsoft and Sony will choke nintendo out.

No Streets Of Rage :(

Any track from any of the 3 soundtracks would do as they are consistently amazing

Yessss! I second this. I probably prefer the music from the first game though.

You don't stab someone twelves times. Everyone knows the universal limit on self-defense stabbing is eleven times! What are you guys? Stupid? Everyone knows that when you go in a mad dash to protect yourself you must always think calmly and slowly and take a deep breath and stop and take time to ponder your actions and always be sure to call in for a supervisor and confirm these rulesets every single time. I'm from the internet and I don't have a social life or friends, and yell at people for having other opinions all day. I am an EXPERT on self defense.

Got a chuckle out of that, can't believe all the people going "OMGFGDSFFF 12 Timezzzz". There have been plenty of instances of trained police officers and special forces operatives losing it and pumping full clips into people when 1 shot would have sufficed or get this...when the person was innocent, and you expect a little kid to keep his cool and think rationally in a situation when he is scared for his life? Give me a fucking break.
