Sigh, I wish Grubb paid more attention and actually read the news stories he reports, he continues to get so much stuff wrong. I enjoy the show but it's frustrating hearing him spread misinformation like the news that Payday3's offline mode is coming soon when in reality it's NOT coming any time soon at all and Jedi Survivor was NOT fixed on PC at all with that performance patch.
It just seems like Grubb just skims though the news stories and just assumes the rest.

@santar: But an okay game with a dull open world with good combat that's underutilized with a mismatched loot system makes it sound like... a poorly made game.

Even if aspects of the game are undercooked that doesn't make every single little thing about the game terrible. Redfall is an okay game, not a terrible game where every single tiny little thing is bad. They even complained about the ping markers!

That Redfall segment on upf was just painful to watch.
I've noticed that the guys (both the past and current crew) have a tendency to sort of go into this mode of "okay this game has been classified as bad by everyone so therefore absolutely everything in it is total trash"

They keep complaining about every single little thing because it's okay because it has been decided that this game is complete trash. The same thing happened with Avengers. Every single thing about that game was absolutely terrible according to GB. Like even the name of the hp meter in that game was somehow a crime against nature.

It's just so tiring and makes it seem like they have no ability to take a game for what it actually is. Don't put so much stock into what others has decided about a game, just try it out and see what you think yourself instead of just jumping on the bandwagon. It makes your opinion much more interesting to listen to.

Redfall is an ok game with a dull open world. The combat feels pretty good actually, but there's too little of it and the loot aspect also feel mismatched to what type of game Redfall is.

Happy birthday Jeff Grubb!
I do find it a bit perplexing how Mike or Jeff never seem to ever consider how bad for game preservation games with arbitrary online only requirements are. They just seem to shrug off every news story about games requiring online to work. Especially as they both seem to really enjoy playing older games. Imagine if Gamecube games required connections to servers to work. You wouldn't be able to play any of them now.

Ben Hanson was a great guest for this. He seemed to be up do date with gaming news and also have enough knowledge to get a good back and forth with Grubb. Very good episode!

I actually really enjoyed this game. It just flows really well and feels very good to actually play. It's a lot more arcadey and moment to moment than Fire Pro, which feels very stiff compared to this. I would say the game is a bit deeper than Alex gives it credit for here though.

My problem with Fire Pro is that actually playing it isn't that great since it's entirely timing based, so if you get a good handle on the timing against the cpu you pretty much just steamroll over it. Retromania has taken this into account in it's grappling system so you can't just crush the ai even if you're good at the timing.

Most fun I've had with a wrestling game in a long while, even the small rooster drags it down a little. And I'm not even a wrestling fan :P

That eulogy at the end is some of the funniest things Giant Bomb has done in a long while.
Hilarious!

I have to say, it feels like Jeff has a tendency to go in with a mindset that things are going to suck. At every opportunity he assumes there's something wrong or bugged on the games part. Almost like he's looking for stuff to dislike. Like when he missed that huge fort icon on the map he immediately starts blaming the game.

And the pay gold to respawn where you died, he immediately assumes the worst.

Personally I think it looks fun. I like the colorful look and the varied classes.

I like that they've changed up some stuff from Torchlight 2. I wouldn't want the same thing again.

Would be such a shame if the game is ruined just because of the whiny steam reviews as I would love for it to do well and get loads and loads of post launch content.

The part I don't like is the always online part. At least they're going to add in offline single player at launch. Hope they'll eventually have lan too.

Great job to everyone on the beastcrew with this series. They're so great at coming up with new fun regular shows! :D

Would be nice if the series got it's own name for easier discoverability though.

I wonder if the bugs like shots not registering on enemies comes from them playing the game with the 60fps option since it was designed for 30 originally? I've played the pc version before at 30fps and can't recall ever having those problems.
