HD Collections & Games on Multiple Consoles

Edit: This Blog has been revised. I hope everyone will have an easier time reading this blog.

There have been some games I wanted to play when I was younger but couldn’t since I didn’t have much money. Now that I’m older and have some money, I have been looking for the games I wanted to play but couldn’t afford. Some the games I'm currently looking for are on some old systems like the GameCube and Game boy Advance. The games I’m looking for are the following: Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, a couple of Mega Man games, some Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid games and a few others that I can't remember at this point of time. Some of these games are currently being rereleased onto the current consoles. Is it better to buy the game when it’s rereleased such as The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Trilogy or find the game when they were on one of the older consoles like the Sands of Time Trilogy for the GameCube?

One more question just came to me. If you have a 360 and a PS3 and a game that catches your interest are released, which console you buy it on?

I have been seraching for some old games for a very long time now since I'm older and I have some money and these were some games I never bought cause I couldn't afford it or never took an interest until I got older. Games like: Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, a couple of Mega Man games, some Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid games and a few others that I can't remember at this point of time. Is it better to seek get the game when its rerelaesed such as Prince of Persia Sands of Time Trilogy or find them when theu were on one of the older consoles like the Sands of Time Triolgy on the Gamecube.

Other kinda dumb question. If you have a 360 and a PS3 and a game that catches your interest is released, which console you buy it on?

I don't want to sound like a dick but, dude, you need to work on your writing. That first paragraph was a struggle for me to read. There were no periods when a period was needed and periods added when they didn't need to be there. Just, after you write something, reread it out loud exactly how you've typed it and see how it sounds.

In terms of rereleases, the quality really varies. I thought the Prince of Persia rereleases were really well done. But some, like apparently the Silent Hill rereleases, are very poor. I'd go by reviews and what people on forums say. As for 360 versus PS3 I usually stay with the 360 because I like the controller better and I'm a sucker for achievements.

I prefer the original console release usually, but that comes with complications. Many of them look pretty bad on HDTVs, unless it's a PS2 hooked up using component cables or a Dreamcast with a VGA box it ain't gonna look great.

I have a Japanese copy of Shenmue that I can't play because of region locking and my Dreamcast is one of the rare ones that can't play any backups, so I can't use a boot loader either.

Hooray for region locking. Stupidest fucking idea going.

edit: and I totally recommend buying a VGA box for anybody wanting to play anything on the Dreamcast, it looks incredible.

I just stopped reading after the first line.

I care a lot about audio and video quality so if an HD version of a game is released then I'll buy it, even if I already own a copy of the original game. As for choosing between PS3 and 360, I usually go for the 360 version of a game because the majority of my friends are on there as opposed to PS3, I also prefer the idea of gamerscore as opposed to tropheis.

@JasonR86: Don't worry about it, your right. My writing can use a lot of work and I'm currently revising this blog.

I tend to buy them when they are HD'd, even if it is just a simple up rez, every time i do this i don't nesscarly think i would care about the difference in quality and i simply do it because i can and i curse myself everytime i do, unless they have done some real proper work and added thing's to the game that weren't there before.

I tend to buy my games on whichever console is plugged in at the time cuz i really hate switching all the leads around and i care nothing about Achievement's and especially tropheys.

@saoakden:

The only HD remake I've invested in was the Ico/SoTC combo and that was WELL worth the money. The games look gorgeous and play better then ever with smoother frame rates and a 16:9 ratio. (of course, those two titles just hold their own so well anyways, since they still remain singular experiences in my eyes that have yet to be duplicated)

Also, Sony knows how to HD-ify their games, not all companies put the work their classic's deserve.

@hoossy: Ico what's that? Never heard of that game.

@hoossy: I am now interest in this collection. I heard about the ending to SoC and I feel sorry for the guy but that dude is crazy fighting 16 giants. Ico is just a kid, man those people in the Ico world are mean.
