This movie is an example of an incredible gifted young director butting heads with a script that was either shit, or completely non existent. I will always admire Alien 3 in retrospect, because Alien 4 was so much worse, and because Fincher gave that movie his fucking all blood sweat and tears style in an attempt to give it atmosphere and make it work.

Halo Reach BLOWS THIS VIDEO AWAY. I'll obviously need to see more but not at all impressed. What looks so special about this? Explain it to me defenders. It looks like any other damn shooter.

No, I didn't know I could push the car? The only interactions I have so far are looking around the motel lot, and trying and failing to break the window. I looked pretty carefully, maybe I missed something? I need to kill the zombie lying next to the car, no idea how to though.

Screened at it's best was an attempt to emulate the dynamics and character of a Giant Bomb. In my opinion it never managed to be even that, although Alex and Rorie gave it a really nice try, those watch a movie while we do commentary things were always fun and Giant Bomby. I guess two staff just wasn't enough to get a foot old in the way they needed to.

Devin Faraci just had an appearance on The Indoor Kids where in they discuss narrative in games, and games as "art." He argues that most modern AAA games are more interesting interactive movie than actual game.

It's a great episode to a great podcast, worth a listen despite obviously unpopular concepts being pitched.

SERIOUSLY. Fuck the critics who pull out the "entitlement" thing to every fucking argument. .0001 percent of people are arguing for the ending to be replaced, talk to them about being entitled. The rest of us are just upset about how poorly it was told, and we have EVERY right to hate it without having to hear how entitled we are.

@walter_sobchak: Example of what?! The fact that I feel entitled to a good, not shitty ending? Guess what? I AM entitled to a good ending, I'm NOT entitled to retcon edits. There's a big difference.

It's weird though. I do not think I have ever seen such incongruity between the opinions online and the ones coming from almost every official or semi-official outlet. Since I listen to a lot of podcasts anyway, I made it a point to find gaming podcasts with Mass Effect 3 discussion. Everything is basically a repeat of either:

a) How entitled gamers are ruining gaming as an artform.

b) The new en vogue argument of "The whole game is an ending! What do the last fifteen minutes matter?"

c) The usual "Nerds just want a happy ending" strawman.

Even Jeff's review is all about niggly things and not actual plotting problems. I guess you can only go so in depth in the avoiding of spoilers. The issue to be discussed should not be "change" the ending. You can't retcon your experience of the end of the game, life doesn't get absorbed that way. The issue being discussed should be the fact that the writers badly fucked up this stories ending and should be held just as accountable as the Lost team was for their shitty happy go lucky ending that absolutely misunderstood all the content that came before it.
