I've actually heard about this game through G4 back when they had a show that just ran videos showing different games. They weren't quite trailers. But I've never played it. From what I could gather it was Zelda-ish with anthropomorphic animals fighting each other.

Never thought I'd see it again though.

@eightbitshik: Yeah, I know the feeling, haha. I managed to beat the game but it was a real struggle and I don't like this game very much at the end of it. The final boss was even better with the sense of control. But if you didn't enjoy the beginning of the game, it doesn't get much better, for sure.

Diamond Sands from Blast Corps. was a bitch of a level. You have to use the awful Backlash (that stupid dump truck) and destroy buildings on a raised railroad. You can't drive over the railroad, so you have to go under at specific points which takes a lot of time. Failing to do the finicky sideswipe motion with the Backlash and destroying buildings on the first go around almost means an instant reset. Then at the end there's a giant structure where the only means to destroy it are pushing explosive boxes. And it's such a long level too. What a pain.

When I was a kid, I think this was the only level I've played in a video game that made me cry tears in frustration. I managed to beat it, but I'm scarred for sure.

@fredchuckdave: Sure NG+ is harder and I'll take your word for it, but Yummylee already put it pretty well why I find New Game Plus unappealing in these games. Simply adjusting some damage and defense sliders isn't interesting to me. Making it so you have to hit bosses a hundred more times when they only have to hit you twice doesn't make it any more entertaining or compelling.

I'm way more into the Ninja Gaiden Black and Bayonetta school of thought where they remix enemy placements so you have to deal with different scenarios or fight harder enemies earlier. That feels way fresher than making it so the Cleric Beast can Goomba stomp you in one hit or the Moon Presence finally deals threatening damage. Dark Souls II was the only game that got close to something like that.

I'm not saying people looking for more unforgiving fights in New Game Plus is wrong. If you want it to be harder sure, but I'd rather just start a new game and play with different stats or weapons.

Also why would I fight any boss naked in this game? Fashionborne all day every day! Haha.

That's a pretty good Bloodborne write up right there, yes sir. I especially agree with magic/arcane moves which feels like the most useless system in the game. What are those for? Why do they exist? Beast Roar can stay, I guess. But those others make no sense when you can just shoot a guy for a parry.

It's a fun game (well, as fun as these games can be) but there's still so much weird design choices that's becoming less and less endearing as they make more of them. As a minor practical menu item, I was super disappointed (but not terribly surprised) that they removed the counter that told you how many souls you needed to level up like in Dark Souls 2 when you're looking at your stats. I know they included it with the Doll... but you still have to talk to her. And mash through all that repetitive dialogue just to check it. Dark Souls wins as far as convenience features. At least I didn't have to talk to the bonfire when I wanted to get something done stat wise. That part always kills me, even when Maiden in Black was a thing.

And Micolash... is just... I just don't know, man. After Rom the Vacuous Spider the boss pacing just takes a nosedive. Outside two fantastic fights with the Wet Nurse and Gehrman everyone else is bizarrely dumb. Even the true final boss is just an exercise in how fast you can figure out its gimmick. I've yet to see a final boss in these types of games that are anywhere as hard as two or more assholes teaming up on you. Maybe that's my personal pitfall with the Souls/Borne series. All I'm saying is that the Capra Demon could take the Moon Presence any day of the week. No contest.

But yeah, despite it's flaws and everything, I'm still playing it and messing around with the trick weapons. It still has its moments. The Bagmen and Lecture Hall come to mind. And I'm glad it exists, but there's always room for improvement.

The lack of a proper fisticuffs weapons is kind of a shame. Punching everything to death in Dark Souls II was a blast. I suppose the Stake Driver sorta of fills that slot. I have to say probably the most fun I had with Bloodborne was killing Vicar Amelia with that weapon. Those primed charge attacks are so satisfying. Put some fire on that and you have yourself a party. A very short range party, but a party none the less.

Oh man, that's sick! I loved Misadventures of Tron Bonne, lots of variety in there with the puzzle solving, action bits, and adventure elements.

To be fair, these should all be negative numbers. You don't actually gain anything from Mario Party. It should reflect accordingly, haha.

EDIT: Oh man. Why is this in general discussion? I was totally posting in the Mario Kart 8 forum. If any mods could help move it, I'd appreciate it. Sorry about that.

I put some time into the new DLC feat. Animal Crossing as well as the new mode 200cc. While it's not quite F-Zero fast, it's pretty damn fast for the likes of Mario Kart. All my driving lines are totally fucked up now, haha, which means every course needs to be relearned with all the fasts running wild.

Probably the biggest discovery I made is that the brake button is relevant again. It actually serves a purpose as some turns are just too tight when you've got 200cc engine power. Another thing is that you might not want to trick off some jumps as it puts your speed and trajectory at a less than ideal angle for the next turn. It's really given Mario Kart 8 another way to look at things.

The flip side is that it's turned a lot of courses into different experiences when you're speeding along. I have some of my favorites listed below.

Baby Park

- I've always loved Baby Park for the chaos and madness for spending such a long time in such a tiny loop. Shells and bananas are everywhere, along with passing people in the back using stars and bullet bills. I'm never quite sure what I'm going to get with 7 laps of this stuff. 200cc only makes it better with the sheer speed as it's more like a big donut you're drifting around where you hardly have time to drive straight before you have to hit the next turn.

Excitebike Arena

- Excitebike Arena basically turns into mad jumps. A lot of tricks I used to hit the alternating ramps while I drive down the center doesn't work anymore now that you can skip over a few with the height you get from 200cc. Tricking off the various ramps gets you air too so you really don't spend that much time on the ground. This track was novel but always kind of ho-hum on the other difficulties even with the shuffling of track pieces. The speed of 200cc definitely helps.

Moo Moo Meadows

- I didn't originally care much for Moo Moo Meadows even on the Wii. It didn't really catch my eye and the background music I'm not a big fan of. But on 200cc you get to do some neat serpentine slides where the cows graze and depending on whether or not you hit the ramp right after it feels really fun to do the glider incline. Maybe the fact it's over pretty quickly with a clean lap helps too. But man is this one a lot of fun when you're going faster.

Water Park

- Water Park actually becomes a worthwhile track when you're going so fast. You can practically drift around the whole loop after going underwater. And the Wario Wheel at the end becomes a real obstacle as you fly so far with the ramp it's always a risk hitting one of the buckets unless you dive right afterwards. Again, it's one of those where the long straight aways where nothing is happening become a lot more interesting when you get through them faster.

I'm still working away at 200cc. A lot of the courses I found pretty hard on 150cc are harder still on 200cc. Like Shy Guy Falls and the Haunted Mansion. I'm looking forward to Bowser's Castle and Electrodrome though. And of course there are the F-Zero tracks but I felt maybe that would be too obvious. I haven't noticed whether or not the computer is any more vicious than 150cc. They do seem to eat it in the walls a lot more often than usual. But like I said, I have many more tracks to get around to.

Of course, feel free to give your thoughts on 200cc. I'm really digging it so far. It's given the game a very different feel. I kind of wonder why they never did it sooner.

I'm super super happy they brought back Baby Park. That was my favorite clusterfuck from Double Dash and seeing it get new life in Mario Kart 8 with 200cc is just... it's a wild ride man. That's the kind of bullshit I can get behind, haha.

Jeff's story of meeting the rabbit for the first time is one of my favorite Bombcast moments. Nice to see the rabbit make a return, haha.
