In all seriousness, I wish you the best. I can't even imagine how hard it is to do that, but just know that there are plenty of people such as myself ready to support you every step of the way. Wish I could be there for ya in person even if I don't know ya personally, but know that plenty of people have your back. You got this son!

I'm really surprised that nobody has said this already, but the NPR All Songs Considered and Tiny Desk Concerts podcasts usually have a pretty wide sampling of stuff to check out. Another way I find random bands is through Metacritic. While I don't always agree with their scoring methods/relying on numbers, generally if an album has an 80 or above score then I'll check out samples to see if I like it. I've found several bands I really like that way. Happy hunting!

The Redwall books got me into reading and so far no movie has been made. Unfortunately the author died about a year ago so no more of those...

I would say this as well, as the Redwall books were my foray into reading past simple children's short stories. Although I did find out they apparently made a TV cartoon movie in 2000, but I'll still say it counts :)

This is really hard for me, mostly because I hate eliminating things because many albums are just soo good its hard to choose. I love all types of music! But if you force me to choose, here goes (in no particular order, its hard enough for me to narrow it down this much):

Counting Crows - Recovering the Satellites (A Long December was the first song that ever made me interested in finding out who sung it, and started my love of music. This will always be my favorite band.)

Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning

Radiohead - Kid A

The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free

Burial - Untrue

Honorable Mentions (I have to, 5 is too few!):

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometowns

Daft Punk - Discovery

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

Muse - Origin of Symmetry

Outkast - Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below

This would be much easier for me if it was a top 50 of all time list :P

To toss out a few more things that might be enjoyable to people, I'd try something like this:

or this:

or this:

I feel like these are much more enjoyable muscially than the grinding buzzy dubstep that seems to be trendy.

Also, on a random note, aren't you glad that we finally got out to a good start in the ACC this year? Seems like forever since we've had a chance to have a winning record for a change :P Go Pack!

Yay a drinks thread. Here are my faves!

Beer: Close between Russian River Blind Pig IPA and Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, for 6 packs its Drakes Pale/IPA and for special occasions Firestone Parabola Barrel Aged Stout

Liquor: Eagle Rare Bourbon or High West Double Rye Whiskey

Mixed Drink: Probably just a Rum and sun drop, can't go wrong there.

As has been mentioned many times, drink responsibly! I let loose sometimes, but I also plan for it. If you can't maintain control of your drinking, your doing it wrong!
