Games I've Finished: '08 Edition.
Unfortunately, this was the first year I decided to save them to text files. Could've been an interesting retrospective if I was able to go all the way back.

To the time of this writing, I'm pretty sure Folklore is the only game with motion controls that I've played and really enjoyed. I even bought the dlc, though this was before I was jaded on the concept.
Well, the assassinations were cool. Everything else, kinda ehhhh.
Neutral playthrough on Hard. Still probably my favorite ps2 rpg. Shame you have to go to handhelds for the same sort of playstyle nowadays.
I went back through to take a crack at the demifiend since it was a bit of a dry spell. Never did kill that bastard. The battle relies a little too much on dumb luck for my taste. I have no luck whatsoever, so it's a bad combination.
It was a translated one for snes anyway. I love mechs and strategy rpgs, and outside of Front Mission, Super Robot Wars is pretty much the only source I know of that combines them. I don't think anything can really prepare you for a srw end boss other than having played a srw game before. I swear, that bastard Shuu took hours of my life that I'll never get back.
I thought the original was okay, but then I found a copy without a greatest hits label at a local gamestop, so I decided to jump in. I was pleasantly surprised at the gameplay upgrades though the golf minigame haunts my dreams.
Played the Kyosuke route, 35 points on hard. Toyed with the idea of importing Alteissen and Weissritter model kits.
I fucking love Yakuza. It's probably the best face stomping simulator there is.
Another 35 points on hard affair, once again focusing on Kyosuke's route. Him and Sanger really need to be the archetype for badass mecha pilots and not the 15 year old boy who mopes for a while and eventually comes through. Just saying.
Man, what a weird game. I kinda liked how you made progress in some aspects, but the clunky controls were a bit of a deal breaker for me.
Played through the Journey on hard and finished the Answer. What I find more surprising is that I'll probably fork out the cash to buy this game a third time on the psp just to play as a girl. What kind of hooks do they have in me?
Okami and Viewtiful Joe? That's for pussies and grandpas and I think you know it. Now God Hand is a game for men, or at least men who played a lot of video games in the late 80's and early 90's. Also, best ending credits song ever.
Played through the game twice. Once as a Vanguard paragon dude on normal, and a second time as a Infiltrator renegade lady on hardcore. Having just finished 2 a second time puts this game in an interesting perspective. Gameplay wise, I think 2 was far the better of the pair, however, I found the over-arching story in the first one to be more interesting. Though, I'll admit I never really found my part in said story to be that great. Seemed a lot of do good guy thing or bad guy thing, whatever floats your boat.
Probably the only game that ever brought me close to actually crying. Of course, that moment was ruined by pointless exposition instead of a suicide. Still, that was a game to remember.
The original potion chugger. Not really sure what possessed me to play through this again though it was kind of fun stacking my coins all over the town in order to pave the streets with gold that I couldn't be bothered to carry.
I'll be honest, I only bought it to see how the trophy system on the psn would work. Not a big dual-stick guy, though it could be the memories of hand cramps from playing too much robotron 2084 with that pretty bad atari 7800 joystick.
I cleared the musou modes with all the characters. Was mostly pissed off about all my favorite characters being turned into generic clones. Especially when they released a ps2 version in japan with every damn character getting a musou mode again.
Not really into tower defense either, but I'll usually try anything out for 5 bucks.
This one, I actually really liked though I've never been one for platforming. Stage 7 can still eat my ass though.
The pre-psn nerfed final stage version even. I played a lot of Bionic Commando in my youth, so this was a real treat.
Cleared the story mode with every character and finished the Tower of Lost Souls mode. I didn't get into it as much as I did 3, though I really can't tell you why. It doesn't have anything to do with Star Wars characters though, I think.
Finished the main story. I don't really have the patience needed to grind for the upper-end content any more. I did go back a little bit after they added the trophy patch though.
I bought a psp for something to listen to music on and have something to do on breaks and this was the first game I bought. Seems like a pretty good first purchase.
Well, what other games do you get the chance to PUNCH A TIGER IN THE FACE in? I may have also beat up some diaper fetishists, which feels about as good as you'd expect it to.
I probably cleared the career mode earlier on in the year, but didn't really pay it much heed as a clear. Then I decided to play through the endless setlist 2 on thanksgiving. I'm not sure I ever really recovered.
I played a lot of Fallout 3. A lot. I could complain about a bunch of things, but there is something to the worlds that Bethesda constructs that makes them fun to dick around in. They can't really do a main quest for shit though.
Portable double-dippin'. As a fan of the original, I had to check it out for the new classes and see what the big deal about the new script was. I liked art for the new cutscenes too. Missed out on the spells not having crazy incantations that triggered occasionally though.
Pretty neat. Though thinking about it only seems to annoy me since the sequel is going to be on psp.
I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the semester being over. Well, without hookers and a lot of blow, anyway.
You know how it's going to end before it's going to start, but man, even if you still know it's coming those last scenes still had some pretty heavy impact. At least it did on me, anyways. Didn't care for the leveling system being completely random though.
Bought it on Steam for 98 cents. I enjoyed it, though all that first person platforming? Ugh.
