Games I've Finished '13: A Whole New Era

List items

  • I never played a Scribblenauts game before, and it was kinda simple but fun. It can also get really dark in ridiculous ways, which is always a good time waiting to happen.

  • Played well past the point of it being fun and finished the Symphony of Souls. Fortissimo was just pure chaos and it was hard enough to see the bullets as it was. It was pretty fun on mezzo-forte though.

  • Pretty good, but I could live without the pixel hunt portion. I mean, I made a guy get fucked by a bear to progress, so how can you not love that?

  • Finished all the modes. Knight was the weakest, I think. Kinda wish there were more Hero 300's, but I suppose that's against the purpose. Fun in short bursts, but I don't think I ever want to play it for more than 15 minutes at a time.

  • Granted, I haven't played one since 3, but I thought it was fun, and I didn't even die like a billion times playing on normal. That Raptor News Network boss fight was pretty amazing. Think I might go back for the collectibles.

  • Clever little puzzle/adventure game, with a ridiculous amount of dancing.

  • Pretty cool game once it finally stopped flickering and crashing all the time. Dungeon and random encounter variety was a little low. My bruiser, slayer, and medikus team was pretty savage once I finally upgraded all their boosters/implants.

  • I've had it since 2 came out, but never bothered to play it until now. I thought the story it told was pretty cool, but the way the camera jerked around was pretty annoying.

  • I enjoyed it, though at this point I already know all the tricks that the game is going to pull on me. Oh, the door malfunctioned, bet I'm going to fight a bunch of necromorphs or I bet shit's coming up behind me that I won't be able to see because of the super tight field of view. The weapon creation system was pretty rad. My weapon creation protip, put acid bath in a support slot.

  • Came back to it a year later. I also went through the whole game without realizing that you could revive people that died in battle by casting a recarm spell in an empty spot on the map. Go figure. Ranged demons become way too overpowered at some point, especially when you're rocking a demon with multi-strike and high str/agi. I created a whole new world and got a nice image of a beach. I only managed to fill in about 55% of the compendium though, which is like a dagger in my generally completionist nature.

  • Pretty fun game to play on the shitter for 3 bucks. The pre-case voice stuff was great, as were the opening and closing songs.

  • Short, but entertaining. That end boss was a bastard though.

  • What a weird fucking game. I probably wouldn't have played it if I knew just how much platforming was in it, but that would have been a shame in and of itself. They really do some interesting things with art, and batshit things with story. Combat was a little bland after just played Revengeance though.

  • I didn't care for the part where I had to shoot so much, but the atmosphere of the game was pretty amazing. Air powered arrow gun forever.

  • Picked it up out of curiosity since I generally love dungeon crawling. Learning curve is STEEP, at least at the beginning, but I eventually got into the swing of it. There's still some optional bosses and 5 levels of dungeon left to traverse, so I'll probably do that.

  • I was kind of worried when I saw all the "kill 150 enemies with whatever weapon" achievements since the shooting in the original Bioshock was terrible, but it was good this time around. They made a really interesting story and world.

  • I thought it was pretty good. Though I probably had more fun looking around for treasure and shit than I did shooting dudes in the face.

  • Fucking awesome, though, for a game with a luchador as a main character, it certainly did lack in sick hurricanranas.

  • That hotspot key really helped eliminate the pixel hunt portion of the game, which is generally what I hate most about adventure games.

  • Finally finished true vault hunter mode, then tried ultimate a little bit and lost pretty much all of my money trying to kill Midgemong, so I'm guessing that mode isn't for me.

  • Well, it's been sitting on my unfinished list on steam forever, so I decided to play through it. Hard to remember what fps games were like before iron sights and regenerating health. I also cheated like a mofo against the bosses. What? They're one-shotty as fuck.

  • So dumb and amazing, I can't even begin to explain it. Pre-ordering it on Steam for the soundtrack more than made up for having to deal with the uplay bullshit.

  • What a guy. That tango puzzle was shit though.

  • Director's cut action. Got the platinum and everything. Frame rate and sound were pretty depressing though.

  • I thought it worked relatively well as a portable game if you don't count the Monolith dungeon. The end boss for me was kinda of boring since he was physically resistant and only Nemissa had decent magic damage.

  • Man, I fucking love this game. Is there some sort of 15 dollar fps renaissance happening this year or what?

  • Pretty rad, though I have to admit, getting a double aether on the end boss and killing him in one round is kind of anti-climactic, but my team pretty much ended up one-shotting everything anyway. Finished hard/classic with no casualties, which took a lot more time than I would have guessed, but I enjoyed the challenge.

  • The premise worked out better for an open world game than I would have guessed. Also, the music is fucking fantastic.

  • Pretty clever little game. Sometimes it's Zelda, sometimes it's Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest, and for a little bit there it's even some Diablo.

  • It's great, but I don't think I want to play it again any time soon.

  • Fuck, Remedy just needs to make the Twilight Zone shows for real. Screw this video game nonsense.

  • Finished the main story and epilogue. It was okay, if not a little too much power of love and friendship saves the day for my tastes. Combat is still pretty fun.

  • Went back and got the rest of the masks and the secret ending. Still fucking addictive.

  • Thought it was pretty cool. I also did all the sidequest crap, so I may have a problem. I just love finding crap, I guess.

  • Sure, it's kinda bare bones by modern standards but it scratches an itch that I've always had for more cyberpunk. Can't wait for more modules to get released since Mr. The Plague needs more shadows to run.

  • Pretty fun, and quite a bit of game for 15 bucks. I ended up playing him not unlike my wizard in Diablo 3, mostly hosing my ray attack until I ran out of mana.

  • Went the chaos route. Man, Lucifer really lost his majesty to the new guys art style. Game was great, though punishing in parts. Being able to save anywhere and not having it be an automatic game over when your main character died were a nice plus, though I didn't like how they made physical attacks use mp instead of hp.

  • Really neat little stealth/puzzle game. You should probably play it.

  • Words can't really express my love for Saints Row 4, but now I am left to wonder if Jane Austen's titties were, in fact, that awesome.

  • Addictive, to say the least. I think I got more caught up with exploring the castle over and over since I kinda sucked against bosses.

  • Kinda underwhelming, but I'm starting to think I'm just chasing the dragon on Tales games after Vesperia.

  • Just in one of those moods where I didn't feel like really playing anything else, so I ended up dumping 34 hours into this. I think I could've lived without the higher hp totals, but since I was an assassin, poison sped things up a bit.

  • It's okay, but I feel like too much of the combat is locked up behind upgrades or having a high combo level. I also get the sinking feeling that there's going to be some sort of dlc epilogue after that ending, which is annoying.

  • Mechanically, it feels kind of old, though I greatly appreciated mission checkpoints. Losing the cops felt like more of a chore than it should have been. Story was psychopathic fun, just wish there were more heists.

  • And with that, I've finally finished the Pendulo pack I bought on Steam sometime last year. Not bad, but not as much voice work as their previous games had. Smaller budget I assume. Well, that and the voices were totally different in some scenes, so I'm guessing there were some ADR issues.

  • I wasn't crazy about the trainer/monster thing at first, but it kinda grew on me. This series also ended up darker and more interesting than I would have guessed.

  • It's kind of interesting how satisfying only running into something as the sole means of combat is. Final boss was an asshole though.

  • Not above cheating to get through that last area. Even with infinite magic it was kind of a pain in the ass with all the unbreakable blocks and whatnot. I thought the first 3 levels were pretty fun though.

  • After 70 some hours, I'm not sure I even really like Dark Souls, but it has all the things that trigger an obsessive response from me. The controls could be a little more responsive though, it always felt like there was a serious delay between a button press and an action. I didn't care for the walk of shame back to your blood stain, especially on a boss run either. That being said, I still played for 70+ hours and killed just about everything except the black dragon in the dlc. I just didn't want to let it beat me, I guess.

  • What a strange thing to play after Dark Souls. Kinda interesting though. That could be the 90's nostalgia talking though.

  • I really liked the juggle combat from Endless Frontier, but it gets kind of exhausting when some of the latter battles take hours to complete. I mean, the final battle clocked in at almost 3 and a half hours for me. It did address an issue that I always have with strategy rpgs though, being that every character you have gets used in battle, though they do split them up when necessary. It does make the battles super long, which is kind of weird for a portable game.

  • Pretty neat little game.

  • Man, that was so much easier than the first one it isn't even funny. Still pretty fun though.

  • Needed like 8 tabs on my browser open to figure out the menus and shit, but I still got the true ending. End boss was on a different level than the rest of the game, but that's usually the case from just about all the Super Robot Wars games that I've played. Kind of a shame this isn't going to get brought over, I'm kinda curious what the story was.

  • The most fun you can have holding down the right trigger. Think I'll try for the elite license, but I'm kinda shitty at stunt runs.

  • I thought it was kinda boring, honestly, but the end sequence with the dragon was pretty cool.

  • It gets pretty dark at the end. Interesting though. Plus it had a real Maniac Mansion vibe with manipulating the different characters for different objectives. I did have a tendency to leave people places because I forgot to do the follow dialogue though.

  • With the exception of the final boss and the hidden boss at Crossbone Island, the game seemed too easy difficulty wise. I thought using abilities to solve environmental puzzles was pretty clever though.

  • Super rad premise of an all robot post-human world. Clicking on things was a little clunky sometimes, but I thought it was pretty neat overall.

  • The game got a little more bearable once I got firearms to level 3, but a lot of the 'cinematic' parts were pure dog shit. I thought the story was actually kind of interesting, or maybe I'm just a sucker for a bio lab that has more than test tube racks and microscopes in it.

  • Kinda clever idea, but the way the momentum worked was kind of aggravating.

  • Kind of a neat idea, but I've only played through the first couple difficulty levels.

  • Pretty cool Metroidvania type game, combat is punishing as fuck though.

  • Divekick is esports. Also best flash game of year hue hue hue. Finally beat S-kill with Stream, barely averting choke detection in the process.

  • I don't think the part where it was an Assassin's Creed game was all that great, but I fucking loved sailing and pillaging. Sea shanties forever.
