Something about Valve's multiplayer games just works for me.

  • Counter-Strike 1.6 - 1000 hours
  • Team Fortress 2 - 1000 hours
  • Left 4 Dead 2 - 1500 hours
  • Dota 2 - 1800 hours

However, my favorite multiplayer experience of all is Nox, by Westwood Studios, with about 500 hours in it.

  1. Persona 5 - I loved P3 and P4, and P5 looks ultra slick in trailers.
  2. Dark Souls 3 - I love the Souls games, and I thought DS3 felt like the best playing one yet in the network beta test.
  3. Divinity: Original Sin 2 - I've been a fan of Larian's since Divine Divinity, and Original Sin had awesome combat mechanics.
  4. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Always loved Deus Ex and this is looking to top Human Rev's solid showing.
  5. Quantum Break - A little apathetic on this game so far, but I love Remedy's past work, so I'm optimistic. Hoping for a fast PC port.
  6. Dishonored 2 - More of the same would be fine by me.
  7. XCOM 2 - Again, more of the same.
  8. Torment: Tides of Numenera - Planescape's an amazing game and the devs on Numenera seem to be really trying to live up to it.
  9. Shadow Warrior 2 - The previous game was a surprisingly strong game from a great small studio.
  10. Nier Automata - Nier had some wonderful qualities, and Yoko Taro's back again. Platinum's involved too now.

And who knows what indie games or other unexpected stuff will pop up over the course of the year ahead. Even though the above 10 games are the best predictions I can make with the information I have right now, I wouldn't be surprised if my final 2016 list ends up featuring fewer than half of them.

There's yet another definition for skillshot in the context of MOBAs: a skillshot is a skill that launches a freely-aimed projectile, requiring the player to lead their target to hit it; this is in contrast to a skill that is cast directly on a target and is guaranteed to hit its target without any leading necessary.

I want to see the results of the poll but I haven't played it so I can't vote.

It's currently 64% for the first poll option, 35% for the second poll option.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with emulators, strictly speaking. It's the distribution of copyrighted content without authorization (e.g. game ROMs) that is the problem. The GB rules prohibit discussion of illegal activities such as copyright infringement; they don't prohibit discussion of emulators.

If you're asking whether you should buy games for your collection or pirate them, the only thing anyone here can recommend is that you buy them. For games that you legally own, playing them through an emulator versus playing them through original hardware is a legitimate choice you can make.

It will be 60 regardless of the size of the game.

This is the correct answer. With Kojima's name on the box, charging anything less than $60 is simply wasted sales potential, and any business person would see this.

I remember the snap-to aiming being so absurdly aggressive that you could just spam left trigger and right trigger to instantly and spasmodically blaze everything in sight. It felt absolutely filthy, devoid of all human grace. It was dubstep as gameplay. And I loved it.

I only owned Nintendo systems (and a PC) as a kid, so I missed out on the Phantasy Star series in its day. But earlier this year, I played through Phantasy Star 2 for the first time, and I was seriously impressed with it. It's got a cool setting and some great story moments that go the extra mile beyond the bare minimum required for an RPG. By the end, I was more emotionally invested in it than I have been in some modern AAA RPGs of the last few years. I liked the game's storytelling minimalism, especially in the ending, which I loved.

The game is huge too, for better or for worse. You travel to lots of different environments and the number of dungeons can seem endless. Some of them are fun exploration puzzles, but most are sprawling labyrinths designed to maximize the time you spend wandering them trying to collect all the treasure. I used the simple players guide that originally came with the game, as it includes maps of all the dungeons, which helped mitigate the tedium a lot. I also maintained a large note file, recording what NPCs had told me, quest info I had gotten, and what items/services/points of interest each town held. This was key in keeping me oriented and on track to progress.

Then there's also the massive amounts of grinding you have to do throughout the whole game. It's got that old-school power curve where as soon as you reach a new dungeon, you're too weak to fight the enemies/boss there until you grind out some levels, and as soon as you find a new town, you're too poor to afford the new gear until you grind out some money. I hacked together a little script for the emulation system I was using to bind a fast-forward function to the right analog trigger of my controller, so I could squeeze and release it on demand like an accelerator in a racing game to speed up the game and zip through random battles. I don't know how many hours that saved me. That plus listening to podcasts made the grinding very tolerable.

I'm planning to move on to play Phantasy Star III and IV sometime in the near future, as I've never played them before either. I know that III's the black sheep and IV is the fan favorite, and I'm really looking forward to them both.
