  • I decided to try something a little different for my re-review of Braid for PS3. I took all of my favourite themes and potential plot devices for the game and made them into a poem. If you prefer some more standard, critique-focused reviews, I've included the link for my original review in the first line of the poem. Check it out, and please, let me know what you think!  Cheers, ...

  • Hi! Here are some reviews that I've posted recently:   - Borderlands (4/5) - Modern Warfare 2 (5/5)  Two very different and uniquely excellent shooters that you should consider playing, and both of them are on everything! I reviewed them both for the PS3, but I'm sure the vast majority of what I say carries over to the other versions as well.  Seriously, one day I'm going to take one ...

  • Hooah: Modern Warfare 2 is here, and with fantastic single and multiplayer modes to dig into, it won't be going anywhere for a long, long time. I'm not what you'd call a diehard shooter fan, but even I was surprised when I recently realized that Call of Duty 4 is two years old. While most games have been long since forgotten after their release, everyone around me was still playing, going ...

  • Scheds replied to the topic No Russian (mild spoilers) in the Modern Warfare 2 board.
I thought it was a really good inclusion. It goes beyond the reasoning that games are only fun, and nothing more. Games can have heavy, emotional moments also. It's difficult, but not from a gameplay perspective. I felt very uncomfortable playing it, but I'm sure that was the intent. And with the opportunity to skip the mission, I think that they did anticipate a backlash of some kind.

That was my last five-star on Medium, and I had to use Euphoria for the last part to get it. I have a feeling it will haunt me on Hard.

  • I voted A; it can definitely make a game a lot less enjoyable. It didn't happen to me, but I imagine all the people on this site who had Persona 4's killer spoiled for them before reaching it themselves were pretty pissed.

  • @RenegadeSaint: Thank you (and sorry for the lateness of this, really need to spend more time on here!). I appreciate your feedback a lot; as I do more of these I hope to rely less and less on scripts. • Scheds reviewed Borderlands

Pew Pew Pew:  "Roleplaying Shooter" is the moniker Gearbox Software came up with for their new game, Borderlands. It pretty much says it all. Take the fast-paced, twitch gameplay of a modern shooter and combine it with levelling, skill points, co-operative play, and thousands upon thousands of guns. If that sounds like it would make an excellent game, it does. There's a definite addictive quality to Borderlands' well-paced questing and good looks, and ...

Hi! Here are some reviews that I've posted recently:

- Borderlands (4/5)
- Modern Warfare 2 (5/5)

Two very different and uniquely excellent shooters that you should consider playing, and both of them are on everything! I reviewed them both for the PS3, but I'm sure the vast majority of what I say carries over to the other versions as well.

Seriously, one day I'm going to take one of the blogging ideas I have and actually act on it, and it's going to be awesome. I think I just prefer writing reviews, overall, but I have some thoughts on the industry and on specific games that I think are worth expressing. I'll try and get motivated.

I will definitely be doing a Game of The Year 2009 entry, though, probably on December 1st so I can factor in some Christmas games into the feature.

Finally: Braid is out on the PS3 today. If you didn't play it on Xbox or PC, you should consider buying it! Reviews of that and DJ Hero coming next week.

Cheers,
Scheds.

Hello everyone! After some struggling with iMovie and Snow Leopard (two beasts that do not get along together), I have finished the video and text reviews of Machinarium. You can find the embed and text here on Giantbomb, although I'd recommend the HQ version on YouTube if you're interested in the game's graphics (you should be!). Despite a few screw ups on my voiceover, I'm fairly happy with it. But what do you all think of it? I'd love some feedback. Do you like just having the voice, or do you prefer when the reviewer makes an appearance in a video review? How was my voice? My speed? Anything you can think of saying about the video would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for taking a look at the review. Stay tuned for a blog and review of Borderlands this week!

The king of the half-tuck returns...
Hello, all - just a quick post to let you all know that I'm working on a bunch of reviews that I'll be posting this week. I've already posted my review of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box; it was great. I'm also going to be reviewing Uncharted 2 and - for the first time ever - producing a video review of Machinarium for Mac. Stay tuned for this stuff and more.

Cheers,
Scheds.

Hello! A few things have happened to me recently.

  1. My (eighth) Xbox broke. I am not getting another one. Goodbye Microsoft!
  2. Today I withdrew from University because I hated my school. Working (if I can find work) and trying to transfer to another school lies ahead in the coming months.
  3. I will now have a lot of time for games. Yay! Expect a couple reviews coming up soon for Muramasa, Beatles: Rock Band, and Trine (assuming it comes out on the Canadian PSN tomorrow).
  4. I've been working on some articles and graphics for a weekly blog. Hopefully it works out.

That is all!

Conflicted Emotions (MAC)
I have extreme emotional conflict when discussing Machinarium, an independently-developed adventure game for PC, Mac, and Linux. A True Gentleman Would Love This Game (DS)
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box takes just about everything the first game did well, and does it better. Level-5 has added a more pronounced storyline, more voice acting, more cutscenes and a few interesting mini games to boot. It's hard to ask for much more in a sequel, and ...
