Computer = Fixed

Yup, finally, no more using that laptop! The power supply turned out to be totally dead, no power going through it at all. What ever caused it to break did a number on it! So we tried a spare one, but the CPU fan was only spinning at 400rpm, we thought that this was a problem with the power supply not being powerful enough, so we went down and got a new one. It only went a bit higher, then I disabled the fan controller and it shot up to 2000. I think the spare power supply wasn't good enough anyways, the graphics card wasn't getting enough power.

I'm glad it's finally working so I can get back to some proper gaming! It's also good to be on a computer with a good sound card, the laptop had a terrible one which would crackle and pop, it drove me crazy! Anyways, enough of that, I've got to install lots of applications and drivers. Back Tomorrow.

Infact, uhh, I just realized that Windows thinks I only have a 1 core processor. What the hell? Ugh, reformat time once again.

Nothing new!

To be honest with you, this week has been pretty dull. I haven't done anything so far, well, my Xbox broke but that's not exactly fun is it? I phoned up Microsoft support today and I should be getting a lovely shipping label, but I need to find a box to put my Xbox in, I'm sure I've got one lying around.

Oh, I found this amazing website the other day! It's called Prog Archives.  If you can't tell by the name, it's all about progressive rock. The great thing about it is that you can actually listen to a couple of songs from the artist you're looking at, it's also high quality, much better than listening to stuff through Youtube. One song I really recommend is Close to the Edge by Yes. Scroll down and you'll see a list of songs you can listen to, it's the third one down. Just to warn you it's a pretty long song.

Let's talk about games... Or a game. Soul Calibur IV has become pretty dull for me, the single player gets very repetitive after a couple of days. The multiplayer isn't as good as I had hoped it to be as it's far too laggy to take seriously. There have been several matches where I've been beaten by someone who just mashes the same button the entire match just because the lag has prevented me from pulling off moves in time, so I've given up on it. I think it was a waste of money, worth a rent? Yes. Worth a purchase? No. Not unless you're a huge fan of the series.

What else is there to talk about? Hm. I haven't been on Giant Bomb as much as I should. After the huge rush of the first week where I was doing submissions from the moment I woke up until I slept I haven't been doing as much. Plus my wrists were starting to kill me from doing so much typing in those couple of days, which was actually quite worrying so I figured I'd give them a rest for a couple of weeks.

I'm pretty sure you're bored of this right now, so shoo! Go!

The dreaded rings!

Yup, my Xbox gave me the three red rings. It's almost a launch console so I'm not really surprised that it did break, but I'm still a bit disappointed. Luckily someone is coming over to let me borrow their Xbox because they don't play it very often, which is great! But I'm a bit worried about sending mine in because I keep getting an error message when I try to register it online, so I'm going to have to phone instead.

I love computers

Yup, my computer has been broken for around 2 months now and I pinpointed it to my motherboard. Sent it back, got repaired, then the CPU fan stopped working in one of the sockets. Send it back again, comes back as apparently not faulty. Ugh. "You have been charged £10 inspection + shipping fees" Mm, lovely fees.

I have no idea what the heck is wrong with it and at this point I don't really care, in the future I don't think I'll be custom building another computer.

Just a couple of quick thoughts.

I figured I would do a blog post about a couple of things, nothing in particular, just a bunch of random stuff.

First off is mornings. You wake up and you just have this feeling that today is going to be a great day and you want to start off this great day by getting an hour or so more sleep. Well, not today! It's half-term. I'm not sure if you Americans have heard of that before, it's when all of the kids are off school for a couple of weeks. No biggie, right? It is when your next door neighbor has little kids. All I could hear for around 20 minutes was this little girl shouting "MUMMY! MUMMY! MUMMY! MUMMY! MUMMY" over and over again. Finally her mother came out and took her inside, then what else do I hear? My cat. My cat has a great way of letting you know he wants to come in, he'll meow constantly. He won't stop until you let him in, so I'm forced to get out of bed and when I get back upstairs the little girl is outside again. Damnit.

Secondly, let's talk about points. I seem to have come off as a bit of a points whore who prides himself off of the fact that he has more points than most people. Believe it or not, this isn't the case. I only got to 1,000 first because I was actually enjoying just going around and checking out the features of the website, I wanted to see how I could test these features and I wanted to get some screenshots of my favourite games up. Now I've done that and once you get past 1,000 it's very easy to get points. The only reason I'm uploading a ton of screenshots now is because it's actually very interesting finding out about all of these games that I never even knew existed! I'm actually going to make a ton of purchases based off of the screenshots I've uploaded because the game looks fun. I really had no idea that there are so many world war 2 RTS games out there, it's insane! Anyways, enough of that.

Lastly, computer problems. A month or so ago my computer decided to kick the bucket when I was asleep, I have no idea what happened but now it doesn't turn on at all, no beeps or anything helpful to indicate the problem is, just nothing. I managed to figure out that the power supply and the motherboard was faulty, the power supply is no big deal because I can get a spare one easily, but the motherboard I can't. I RMA'd it and it came back exactly the same, but now the CPU fan doesn't spin anymore. Great eh? I haven't sent it of again yet because I've had enough of messing around with it for the time being and the postage costs are very expensive. What's worse is that if I send it off and it isn't faulty they'll charge me around £12.

Oh, I ordered three albums the other day. Moon Madness by Camel, Breathless also by Camel and in the land of grey & pink by Caravan. Hoping they'll arrive soon.

This is getting a bit long, catch you guys later!

1,000.

This post is old and stupid, ignore it.

I think I'm the first person outside of Giant Bomb staff or friend of staff to hit 1,000 points. The joys of not being employed and waiting to get accepted for college eh?

My first bliggity blog, dawg.

Yeah, figured I would give this little blog a write in. So today's been a pretty busy day with the launch 'n' all! It was fun watching that image with the woodgrain, then watching it disappear, then watching it come back and then waking up in the morning and seeing that the website was up! I've uploaded a pretty big amount of images which will most probably take quite a while to get approved, but I'm sure most will get uploaded in the end. Added a few characters too.

There's not much I criticise about Giant Bomb so far, the only bad thing so far is the speed but that's been improving slowly but gradually. I just hope this place will keep growing!
