I was able to play it on medium settings with a geforce 8600M GT and a 1.5 Ghz Core 2 Duo. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

Company of Heroes and Dawn of War II are both excellent RTSes.
Audiosurf is quite fun if you have a decent music collection.
Medieval 2: Total War, Empire:Total War, and/or Napoleon Total War if you like the idea of Turn Based Strategy mixed with Real Time battles.
If you get the Half Life 2 series, I recommend checking out Garry's Mod. It makes for some pretty silly entertainment.

edit: @JJOR64 Oh lord, that brings back memories.

@Astras: XNA actually uses Visual C#, although the syntax is pretty similar to C++, though slightly more Java-ish.

It's strange, video games are way better for making me feel fear than movies, but they haven't so far been as good at making me tear up.  I expect that will change at some point. I think the medium that makes me tear up most often is the novel. When I get to the end of a really good book I tear up just because I'll miss the world and the characters. It might be that I just don't finish enough games.

I had roughly two hairs on my chin at eighteen. I'm now 21, and the hair is definitely still filling in on my face. I've got annoyingly scattered hairs on my cheeks, something that's just starting to look beardish on my chin, and almost nothing on my upper lip. Of course, I also didn't catch up to my peers in height until senior year of high school, and I've always been quite scrawny in general, so my beard growth may not be typical. However, A friend of mine who has a pretty good goatee says that the rest of his beard won't come in until he's around 25 based on the experience of his family members. I wouldn't worry about it. Just be patient and let it grow out every once in a while to see how it's progressed.

@ryanwho: No shit, Sherlock? That's why I brought up the hypothetical! If the only kind of sex available was non-consensual, i.e. rape, there are people out there, myself included, who would abstain from sex!

My point was not that not all child touching is rape. My point was that not all pedophiles are necessarily going to rape.

" I forget which one it is, but there was one episode where they talked about G.I. Joe for a good 45 minutes. Vinny or Jeff kept doing their Cobra impression. Other than that, the Tokyo Game Show episodes from October '08 were all pretty awesome, the GOTY podcasts from '08 and '09 were good. Honestly 99% of the bombcasts are entertaining to listen to. "

Really? In my mind Ryan is practically defined by his cursing. I find the way he swears quite amusing. The way he says "god dammit!" 20 minutes into the Dante's Inferno Demo QL gets me every time.

" @Adanux:  All of the other examples people throw up for this kind of thing generally conveniently forget that paedophiles like to rape children.

Hold on a second. I'm attracted to women in their 20s or 30s. Does that mean that I must like to rape them? Of course not. Attraction to and desire to rape are two very distinct things. The one does not necessarily lead to the other.

I mean, if I were hideous, and the only way I could ever get a woman to have sex with me was for me to rape her, I'd just stick with my hand. Regardless of circumstances, rape is right out. I would posit that there are probably pedos out there who feel the same.
