I do think if Austin had covered this then he'd at least say something like "Hey, this game is pretty basic and there isn't anything special about it.. which is a shame because the anime/manga deals with some deep shit and can have some nice action sequences.. Don't let this game deter you from trying the anime.. if you like "X", "X", or "X" concepts and stuff.. you might like the ghost in the shell anime.."

I'm not a particular fan of GitS. I just think this would be the appropriate way to handle something like this. The way most of the anime stuff goes over on this site, I'd compare it to someone saying "Hey this WWF15 game is a smoldering pile of wreckage.. But I watched it on TV for a little bit and it was also that?.. so. yea.."

In a weird twisted GB way, that is already what is said about wrestling, but in the same breath, Jeff and Dan continue to talk passionately about it because they understand that it isn't just something you spend a minute looking at and you've understood it all. /shrug I guess Jeff could've just asked on Twitter what GitS material he should watch to help inform the QL of this game and I'm sure a ton of people would have directed him to a specific series and apparently.. not the original movie as it isn't quite the source material for this game?

Thats my 2 more cents that no one asked for. When GB does a QL of driving sim games.. thats when I get frustrated like anime people do here haha

Ended up trying Dark Arisen from PS+ on PS3 back in the day. Surprised me and I got into it for a bit and played it a fair amount. Didn't finish it though. Can't remember where I was at or why I stopped playing. It was definitely a cool RPG.

Watching this makes me want to pick it up on PC and give it another go.

I'm okay with this list. I certainly think Mario Maker is in a more appropriate spot. Actually wrote up a big post in a thread the other day about that discussion, and others, but ended up losing it to internet connection wankery. Bleh.

I don't know what the big deal is about Mario Maker and think Jeff and Dan/Patrick have a unique lifestyle and setup that it worked out better for them. It seems like a cool tool to mess with but LittleBigPlanet is a way more robust creation system and it was done years ago. Also, haven't people on the internet been making custom mario levels for a long time now? Also, the VAST majority of what people make in a community generated content system is crap, just as LBP showed, and the good stuff is few and far between.

Glad Bloodborne got some respect. Fallout is right about where it should be. It's not particularly ground breaking but its still one of the best. Bottom four of the list is stuff I haven't played.

Galak-Z, Rebel Galaxy and Elite: Dangerous did not make it in the Top 30?

Space is dead! Chris, take those millions and run.

Didn't Elite: Dangerous "release" last year? I was playing it in November 2015 I think. I know Horizons just came out. Been playing that. Don't think I put Elite on my list though as I thought of it as a 2015 game. May have actually been on my 2015 list now that I think about it.

I gots me one comin! (I think)

Its a little on the pricey side obviously but not surprising considering what it is.

My login isn't working on their site though and I can't get the order info to come up anymore.. Not sure if broken or what.

I do have the confirmation email and order number though so I assume that means it went through.

I'm PSYCHED for this. Can't get here soon enough. Got back into Elite this past week and excited to see it in VR. Plus all the other weird stuff out there. And to freak out my mother.

Oh and does it really need that many USB slots? Wtf?

Alex's segment made me crack up when it first started and grinning through the rest of it. So perfect. I wouldn't describe it as creepy really.. that's just how some people are in their videos.

These two have definitely set the bar.. Lets see if the others can top it.

Woooo go Sony. I love when a company knows the value of something and puts themselves out there to lock it down.

I guess I'm one of those who think console exclusives are fun. I also typically own all the systems, and currently do, so I don't care.

Yeaaaaa this doesn't seem like the Rainbow Six game I want or what I was hoping they were doing with this new one. After that initial unveiling of the game, I was hoping this was going to be full on destructibility, to the extent of collapsing the entire structure, and then work around that. Missions to stop people from doing it, using it as a tool, drive a vehicle through a wall etc. Complete freedom to approach the situation as you wanted.

This seems quite limited and corny.

Also would've liked a bit more of the sim-y-ness of the older games. Slower, more tactical combat. Crazy weapon detail and options. Huge selection. Tons of ways to do things etc.

I pretty much only played these games for Terrorist Hunt mode. Had a lot of fun doing local and online co-op terrorist hunt in Raven Shield and Vegas.

I'll try to generally sum up my feelings without going into a giant thing.

I think the new visuals are impressive. Thumbs up on that.

I'm not a fan of them moving to a combat system that appears similar to 15 or other more action-oriented games. I don't think SE has ever done a good combat system that isn't the traditional turn-based system. Turn-based is their bread and butter and the draw of their combat systems have been the creative differences they could come up with between games in a series or between the different series they made. Bravely Default was fantastic and demonstrated how a more classic style JRPG could be updated, expanded, for the average modern gamer without cutting out the depth and old school feel. They are too worried about appealing to a massive audience, who probably wouldn't care about a Final Fantasy game regardless of it's systems.

And this multi-part/episodic thing is kinda meh. Not sure why they are adding new content? The original game is stupidly huge. I don't remember anyone ever complaining about there not being enough activities or stories. I'd bet the actual reason is that FF7 is such a massive game, it would take a ton of time and money to rebuild that game completely and they aren't able or willing to do that upfront. Also the argument is dumb that its too big/too much but look at FF13 or 15. Aren't those supposed to be their big RPGs with top notch visuals? Stop wasting time/money on 13 sequels and 15.

I don't understand why they don't try and make a $20-$40 classic turn-based RPG with 2D artwork and not designed for phones. That Brave Exvius or whatever the F it's called looks great except it's on stupid phones. This also means the combat is just tapping the screen and everything works itself out.

If they want to make more action-RPG based games, then create a new series and stop ruining Final Fantasy.
