the person who wrote that letter is the biggest kind of coward. he knows his ideas are shit and resorts to violence to stifle the discussion so he can have his way. the whining about feminization of men and feminism is fucking hysterical too. i guess unless you're a gun totin', cigar smokin', babe gettin', caricature of a male, you're not a real man. these idiots don't undesrtand that they're falling into the same gender traps people like Sarkeesian are talking about. how can you be this dense. how can you be this simplistic and cowardly?

@meatsauce: Bandcamp is wonderful. they take 15% but that's a better deal than anything else I've seen, plus lots of music fans are familiar with it, their stats tracking is free, and there's lots of tools to use to do stuff like promos or sales or free downloads.

as far as the music you linked, I would say you should work on getting a good singing tone. I stay away from vocals cause I'm just so afraid of sounding dorky as hell, but I learned some basics of good tone from getting a degree in music, which requires some sight singing/ear training for at least 4 semesters. the easiest (i say that kind of lightly, its tough to do) method is to focus on producing one good, long note with good tone. Use the muscle in your stomach just under your lungs (it might feel a little bit like you are bracing to take a dump) to push air out of your lungs, and try to produce a good, long, LOUD, consistent note. lots of people skip this and go straight to attempting full songs, which works for some, but if you don't lay down that fundamental groundwork, you'll have trouble keeping a consistent volume level.

your guitar playing is quite nice though. Good tone and you have good control of your dynamics while playing. lots of people have trouble in that department.

@corruptedevil: well if they see this they have all of my permissions to use without royalties since i'm not looking for payment on the electronic stuff. i realize there's mountains of legal stuff in between since CBS might now want to deal with even the CHANCE of something like that happening, but I can keep the dream alive ;_;

@oodliI'm gonna go ahead and assume you're talking about the electronic stuff, haha. thanks for listening! if it made you feel relaxed, i've done my job

thanks! the electronic stuff is what I write in between writing the metal stuff, mostly just to broaden my composing skills, so it's great if anyone at all likes it even a little.

hey everybody! I've been a huge a fan of this site and lurked on the forums for quite a while. After the hours of entertainment granted to me by both sources, I feel like I should give back a bit. I tend to write music when I've got nothing better to do, which is most of the time. So if you like music, I might have something for you!

luckily I come in two flavors: relaxing electronica and growly deathcore.

the full length album from the deathcore thing is the only one I ask money for; there's a free EP on here though!

My personal dream is to have something from the first link show up on the before-show thing on Unprofessional Fridays. Then I will know I have truly "made it".

Nice article, Patrick. I'd have liked a little more from you on it after you'd read all those opinions, but it might be better to let the opinions speak for themselves.

Also, it amazes me that people are mystified as to why you'd be offended about something that removes the humanity of a group you belong to. But I"M not offended, so why are they?? People are different and hard!

I would still watch Quick Looks if only Vinny did them.
