I did not realize that there was both a Guitar Hero and Rock Band game coming out this month until about a minute into this QL.
I'm with you. Whenever they talked about these games I must have tuned out completely and just meshed them into one game in my mind. It's insane that they actually are releasing both these franchises at practically the same time.
The sonic package was well done and Jeff's reaction to it was pure gold
I drank quite a bit of Absinthe when I was younger and it sure as hell gets you very drunk, very fast, but I never felt it have any kind of hallucinogenic effect whatsoever. (And, yes, I drank real Absinthe.) It also kind of tastes bad, very much like Eucalyptus.
Still love how freaked out Dan tends to get over everything that's even mildly drug-related, though.
Also congrats on that "sick" Witcher-Fan burn, Brad.
Listening to this conversation (and the ones in the last view podcasts) about The Witcher 3 and the dumb comparisons between it and MGS V, I already know that this year's GOTY deliberation podcasts will be the most painful and sigh-inducing for me in years.
Don't get me wrong, MGS V is great and will most certainly end up in my top 3 (depending on Fallout 4 and Star Wars: Battlefront's quality), but boy oh boy, Dan's fanboy "Kojima can do no wrong logic" concerning that game gives me a headache.
Saying MGS V's story is better than The Witcher 3's is insane to me, and I'm saying that as a huge fan of previous MGS storylines.
Also the whole "it introduces so many new things all the time" argument is terrible, since a) TW3 is an RPG, thus it's to be expected that you should know what skills etc. you get immediately (it's the case in virtually every other RPG too), so you can spec your character accordingly and b) 90% of the stuff you get in MGS V you don't need and thus maybe try once or twice, before going back to actually effective weapons/items. (See Metal Gear Scanlon.)
And not to forget how messed up the whole FOB thing has gotten by now, which somehow I think will get completely ignored, when later talking about the game, while things like TW3's buggy beginnings will most certainly come up again.
I don't really care about "my favourite game" placing well in the GB GOTY list, but I hate biased/unbalanced/not very thoughtful arguments.
I'm a bit on fence about getting this, since while I did have fun with the main game, I'm with Alex in that it never quite grabbed me as much as CIV V (or IV for that matter).
This was fun and it's really interesting to see how little Dan cares for Disney. Disney was just huge in Europe while I was growing up and Donald and Co. were to be found absolutely everywhere. Loved that stuff as a kid, still really like it now.
