I had to walk for 3 hours just for a cheese burger today

I've wanted to buy a cheese burger for a long time now since it had been over 10 years since I last had one. So I decided to walk the epic journey to the nearest McDonalds as I reasoned it would also give me an opportunity to listen to this weeks giantbombcast. But by the time I brought it home, ready to dive into this wonderous food  it was cold and there was nothing I could do about it :(
Fucking conservation of thermodynamics...

The good news is that I used this outing to buy a 'mountain dew'.  I do not live in America Land I have never had a mountain dew before but have heard so much about it on the podcast and in the forums. So in my mind I had hyped up this drink as some kind of legendary refreshment, unparalled by any other beverage. To my dispointment however it just turned out to be a a 7up with a little extra flavouring and caffine.

So that was my day. 3 hours of walking for a cold burger and a crappy soft drink. The former I blame myself for but the latter is entirely Giantbomb's and the community's fault for hyping it up so much. So take responsibility for it!

@Chalian:  Because I don't like Mcdonalds. That sounds like a contradiction but I originally intended to find a more 'higher class' burger joint since this was suppose to be the highlight of 10 years abstaining from cheeseburgers. But in the end Mcdonalds was all I could find so I walked back home dejected and at the very least hoping to eat it in a nicer environment

@Marcsman: As stated above I intended to find a higher class burger joint but in the end had to settle for the lowest of the low.

A crappy soft drink? Too far, bro. TOO FAR.

Anyway, dude... McDonald's? Those hardly even qualify as burgers. I admire your efforts, but your choice was retarded.

As said, you should have eaten it there. As for mountain dew, it's disgusting and I have no idea why people buy it. It just tastes like flat pop with too much sugar in it.

Three hours for a burger, reasonable. Three hours for a McDonalds burger? MADNESS!

Diet Mountain Dew is better by the way, less sweet.

I take all the responsibility for your epic 3 hour journey!
On a more "serious" note, I love taking strange and weird journeys with only the Bombcast to warm my fingers on the way.
Detours, long walks, bicycle rides for nothing, it's awesome!

Also, exercise is GOOD for you. So they say at least.

Maybe in the US McD is shit, here (Austria) you actually get a fine meal. At least it's not sawdust with spit. No idea where OP is from though.

Dude where do you live?  I live in Iowa and if I walked for three hours I could hit 5 mc donalds, 2 wendys, and a burger king. Also I dont care for the dew much anymore. Sobe Life water is way better and better for you.

  • Eat the burger right away...
  • 3 hour walks suck.
  • Mountain Dew is alright.
  • McDonalds is a poor choice for a burger after that long
  • You should have just eaten the burger while you were there, or walking.
  • Why didn't you?
  • Where the hell do you live that its 3 hours to a Mcdonalds.

But basically this...

Gave you some exercise doing that. As much as you walked, the cheeseburger was probably already gone before you arrived home. = - P

I was wondering the same.

No offence intended, McD's is a terrible place to get a burger. You're better off making it yourself and getting it just right.

My policy for unhealthy food is, "if I am going to eat something terrible for me, I am going all out." Same with soda: if soda loses its fizz then it has no business being consumed. Again, if I am going to rot my teeth, it's going to have to be worth it.

I like to pretend I am a gourmet. ;-)

@ShadowMountain: I admire your courage, but as someone who worked at a McDonald's for a year and a half, I could have told you that McDonald's cheeseburgers become cold and gross after about five minutes. I'm sorry you had to endure that horrific ordeal.

Also, yeah, Mountain Dew is just an okay soft drink. Nothing really special about it, other than the fact that's it's got tons of sugar and caffeine.

 @s7evn:@Funzzo:  @blacklabeldomm:
I live in greater london (outskirts of lonodn) but its in a wierd part due to its location and layout (hard to explain but essentially I live in a community surrounded by a wood, then there is warehouses (john lewis warehoueses etc) and then the nearest town. The warehouses/industrial area and the wood is between my house and the nearest town hence the distance).

There used to be an awesome burger joint that I thought was still there but it had closed due to the economy so only McD's was left...

dang that sucks. you should have eaten it when you got it. i don't see why you would eat it when you got back from a 3 hour walk. i say maybe you should have gotten a car.

mountain dew is the best soda there is. it taste great. you should try mountain dew baja blast at your nearest taco bell. it's only exclusive to taco bell which sucks man.

It's funny you say that, because in America, we bitterly despise high fructose corn syrup despite it being prevalent in just about all of our sodas.

Ya know, you really could have eaten the burger right after purchasing it, huh? And just how far out "in the sticks" do you live that a McD's is that far away? There are on-line grocers that would MAIL food to you that fast!
