It took YEARS for me to "get it", honestly. Diablo 2 only clicked for me a week ago.

To answer your question, it's loot and stat lust. Basically the same draw as gambling mixed with the constant number feedback and endless exploration of an MMO, minus the glacial pace of an MMO.

Obviously it goes deeper than that, but there's the main source of addiction.

I had zero glitches on my first playthrough, and now I'm hitting a bunch of them. No gamebreakers, but it's weird just the same.

Instead of going through all the trouble of finding a place to do TNT, just have a Thursday Night Flowdown. Two hours of freestyle rap battles.

EDIT: OOH! If they play Max Payne 3, they can call it the Thursday Night Slowdown!

Just once I'd love for this to happen when I actually have money. If I had a penny for every major Steam sale I missed out on, I'd have... a few pennies.

Ack, no way. My hand feels uncomfortable when I even imagine the claw technique. I understand the usefulness of it, but it doesn't seem worth the discomfort.

This game made me a HEALTH fan. (I only recently realized that they did the original version of my favorite Crystal Castles song, Crimewave)

But how does the incredible perfection that is Total War fit in to all of this?

Well when you look at Total War from a distance it looks like a real time strategy, but if you look at it close up you will see it is really self flagellation for pc centric close minded idealism which accompanies the inevitable loop mentality of a pc gamer. This is called looking far away and looking closer up. You do this by shifting your computer chair closer or farther away from the screen, usually with your legs. Here are some other words you could also use in a sentence: masking, coherent, down, prehistoric - a whole gamut really!

You hipster nihilist, you!

Dragging the same joke around til you dry its ass must be a lot of fun.

You mean the joke I made exactly once? Yeah, I sure am milking that sucker, aren't I?

... The hell?

It's been used to death is my point.

I wouldn't know. I've barely seen it outside of spock's posts.

Survival reasons? Sure, probably. Can't really know unless it happens, though.

Under the circumstances the Bombcast laid out? ... Ehhh... my curiosity isn't THAT strong.

The only thing I really don't like is the amount of downtime between matches. Especially when you're repeating the same map.
