Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is easily the best gameplay experience in the metal Gear Solid frachise. It also includes many great little touches that any fan of the series will love. The boss fights are incredible. including the end fight(I won't spoil it for you if you have not played, by the way play it). The music and the overall sound effects are truely incredible.
