Shinji_Rarenai: Collection

These are the games I have. I created a separate list for the games I'm currently playing. I wanted to start alphabetizing this list so I can figure out what I already added.

Not listed:

  • Steel Storm from Humble Indie Bundle 3
  • Revenge of the Titans from Humble Indie Bundle 2

List items

  • My *dad* bought me this. Apparently he did a lot of research, and heard about it from an article in the San Jose Mercury News. It's a fun game, and it looks beautiful on an HDTV. It's not too difficult, though.

  • I think I liked brainteasers ever since I was a kid. I still remember some of the solutions, though, so I think I blew through this game faster than if I didn't remember some of the classic puzzles.

  • Seems easier than the first game. Still, lots of fun puzzles.

  • Purchased as part of the Humble Indie Bundle 5

  • I got this because they were talking about it on the podcast. It's a fun puzzle game, and it makes good use of 3D. The levels are awful quick, though, and I blew through a bunch of them in one sitting. I suspect it'll get harder later on. It's great to have games "built-in" to the 3DS - sometimes I just want to play something quick.

  • I liked this game, but the puzzles were too easy for me. I finished most of them in 30 seconds or less. I like the Professor Layton puzzles better, but the quirky story and characters in Scoggins made me want to play this game more.

  • After beating the game on the PSP, I downloaded the game for my iPad and iPhone. My excuse was that I wanted the additional content (the third chapter) but I'm just having fun playing through the game again as time permits.

  • They finally got it right. It "fixed" some of the problems with the first one. There's also a lot of loot. I like the tactics, trying to think ahead and plan out moves and use the right spells to win matches. The new minigames for unlocking doors is also a nice touch. I'm glad I got it. I started playing as a Templar (knight) and switched to a wizard. I'll play through as an assassin later.

  • This is the best party game. It's the one that started it all, and I have over 4GB of songs on my hard drive to prove it.

  • The ultimate party game. Mix friends, beer, and bad karaoke and you're set for the night. Getting people to sing Boston's "More than a Feeling" is worth the price of admission.

  • Got this for my birthday. Great party game. I love Rock Band. I used to dabble in the guitar, so I'm really looking forward to pro mode. I already have the Ion drum set (gift from the gf).

  • Purchased as part of the Humble Indie Bundle. Haven't played it yet.

  • I don't know if this counts as a video game, but I *did* actually buy it...

  • I heard this is a good game for the Vita. I don't know what it's about, yet. It doesn't look like it's coming out any time soon. Jonathan Mak still has a job opening listed on his web site to develop this game. (Maybe he's just bad at updating his web site, though.)

  • Bought this the day it came out. Also got two copies as gifts. My girlfriend loves playing this game. She even Googled ways to get rid of bees (without killing them). My buddy said to just use a flamethrower...

This is a great game to show off to friends. I think I've helped them get five sales now. They have sold over a million games.

  • I started playing Sim City Deluxe HD on the iPad after A. started messing with it. I started a city on hard, where you start off $10,000 in debt. I build a city without water infrastructure to save on cost, and was saved when a Costco-like company wanted to build a mini-mall in my city. With the added income, I'm able to pay off the debt and have started building the infrastructure for the city. I bought this game when it was on sale for $1, but was disappointed at the time because it didn't click with an 11-year-old girl. She found the game over Thanksgiving, and started trying it out. She's having fun, but is running into problems with balancing a budget. Aren't we all? :)

  • After hearing about this game on Weekend Confirmed, I thought I'd check it out. It's sort of Star Control 2 meets Spaceward Ho! I haven't gotten very far into the game. I have a fleet of ships, and I met an infected science vessel (no spoiler, I think, since it's in the title of the game!) I like the game so far.

It's an interesting mechanic for the battles - you control one of the ships a la Star Control, but the other ones in your fleet are controlled by the AI. I also haven't figured out when I should spend the research points to upgrade the ships - I've been keeping them until I have blueprints for the new technologies. I don't know if the "normal" bonus that they confer is worth spending the points on or not.

  • Humble Indie Bundle 4

  • This is another game that just makes me smile. There is an element of frustration when playing this game, though.

  • The original game is still awesome. But the sequel is better.

  • Probably the best e-sports game of all time. Unless StarCraft II surpasses it.

  • And I'm not even Korean!

Brings me back to the all-night LAN parties after college. I'm already playing the beta. I love it.

  • I wanted to get something else with the remainder of my gift certificate, and this seemed to fit the bill. It's a great game, and it's fun. I'm going through it slowly since I want to savor it. It's fun, it's Mario, and it's 3D. I'm having more fun with Ocarina of Time right now, but I know that will probably be my go-to 3DS game in the future.

  • Part of Humble Indie Bundle V. This game is fricking awesome! It's hard as hell, and it makes you want to throw the controller, but the quick restarts and great art style makes each level feel so worth it when you get through it. I don't know if it's my competitive nature, but I'm having so much more fun pushing through the punishing levels than I ever did trying to finish a level of a Mario game.

  • I got this on sale for $5. Since I seem to be on my PSPgo a lot, it seemed like a good buy. It's mindless, but it's a great shooter, and I seem to be spending a lot of time playing it.

  • Got this for activating the 3G on my Vita. A great update to the PSP version of the game. Looks like the PS3 version, from what I can tell. I didn't know what I was missing with the PSP version. The dual joystick support is huge.

  • 3D Edition. I suck. Fun though.

  • I bought this sight-unseen. I'm going on a trip, so I figure it'll be good to have with me. I already had credit on the App Store, so I figure it's worth it.

  • Humble Indie Bundle 4

  • This is a fun (and cheap, it's only $8!) puzzle platformer for the Vita. I like the humor, and it's fun.

This was one of the games I played on my Vita while on my flight to Dallas. I played this when I got stuck playing PixelJunk Monsters.

  • Playing this on the Wii. This game turned out to great for parties at the office.

  • PSN game. Not bad for $5. Frustrating. Having a problem getting past level 2 on easy.

  • Humble Indie Bundle 3 - Was mentioned in the Game of the Year discussions on the Bombcast. Supposedly a tight platformer.

  • Humble Indie Bundle 4

  • I needed a simple game to play as I try to unwind before going to bed. Playing StarCraft II left me too amped up to sleep.

  • Wii lightsabers! This is what the Wii was meant for!

  • "Purchased" as part of the Welcome Back program.

  • "Purchased" as part of the Welcome Back program.

  • Purchased as part of the Humble Indie Bundle. This was the reason I got the package in the first place. I didn't actually download the games until they added them to SteI bought this game when it came out and finished it that night. It's from the makers of Flower. As soon as I finished this game, I wanted to show it to someone. The game actually made me feel happy, sad, and scared at different times while I was playing it. It's short - maybe only two hours for the first playthrough, but it still managed to find a way to touch me. I want to show it to A. before I play through it again.am.

I started playing it on the iPad, too. This is my favorite game on the iPad. While I have the Steam version as well, there's something about the touch interface on the iPad that makes this game more fun. It's harder to control, though. I finished the first chapter on the iPad. I started getting the OCD achievements on both the iPad and the Steam versions. However, when I have the gaming notebook on, I'd rather be playing StarCraft II.
