Instead of console bc (which I agree every console that can do it should do it.) I would rather all console games come to pc. Nes era games and everything to the present. That way I do not have to worry about bc at all because my pc will always run them.

Raised Buddhist, became agnostic the more I see the corruption in temples and churches. I will accept religion again as soon as I do not have to go through corrupt "middlemen" to be a part of it. Preferably, I just want an unattended church/temple thats there just for people to pray, no priest or monks or any "careered spiritual adviser".

I think you are mixing hype for announcement with cynicism for actual game reviews. I mean I guess you could be cynical about anything really even announcement of a title but don't you think that is kind of weird. Like if I told you hey I will make ramen for dinner, you look at me and promptly shake your head "I mean I guess this is ok, looks bland tho. I can see how people would like it." Now there is nothing wrong with that but I probably wont have you back. Compare to a guy that goes "great I never had it or i don't like the last ramen I had but I am eager to try this one!" Pretty much the same opinion and they both might end up not liking it but I would invite the latter guy back. Its all a matter of attitude for me really. I love Alex but he can be kind of a bummer sometimes and thats ok no one is perfect.

Trying to create this supposed gaming utopia between the elite and the masses is never going to happen. It has never happen in any other field and it never happen in the history of mankind. If it did then we would not be human anymore.

@edgecrusher: I was 13 i believe when this came out. I saved 2 weeks worth of lunch money to buy this game. This was the game that made me a gamer. I did not want to tarnish the memory of this game with a remake but the entire army of hell itself will have to stop me from playing it.

This game already generate hate. It has for the last 17 years. This is nothing new. Its just that in the age of twitter people are too fucking loud about everything. 17 years ago it would have been "hm I think original ff7 was better". Now its "FUCK YOU SQUARE YOU RUIN FF FUCKING JRPG ASSHOLE". Everything is so damn extreme and cynical.

My take is this game will be fine. Just like FF13 was fine, not a good game but its not the worst game ever and it certainly did not destroy FF. If they modernize it half the fanbase will go on tumblr screaming and crying. Same with if it stay the same. Just make the game you want to make and stop trying to follow the market. The best games in the market are ones with a very focus creative vision. In recent years, japan have lost a lot of that focus. Luckily we still have Miyazaki, Kamiya, Miyamoto, the good atlus people, Falcom and maybe, we will have Nomura back.

OST filled with great pieces like this and an AMAZING story. Nier is the most flawed gaming masterpiece I have ever seen. If Nier had bayonetta combat, it might have been the best game I have ever played.

@bigsocrates: that part about barrette is true, in the english version. In japanese he was just an angry dude because of story reason. This is a problem of questionable translation job.

@lyisa: honestly this is probably FF7 biggest problem. There are so much baggage on this game after years of craze fan either loving it to death or hating it to death. Like even for us just talking about this pretty calmly it almost seems like we are yelling at each other. I love ff7, no I did not want a remake. Yes I am excited for it and yea this remake will sell 10+ mil easy. This game is fucking weird and drives everyone crazy it seems.

@lyisa: hm. I reply to your musing about why this game is so revered. If you just dont like it or dont like the fan or just hate that ppl like it. I cant help you with that.

@lyisa: not at all. If you really want to dig into it, I am sure many people on this board and myself can write you thousands of words blog about why it is revered so.

One of my reason being, this was a game that dealt with PTSD, depression, isolation, friendship between man&woman(instead of the typical love), love and the process of healing/taking care of a love one.

It did not have a jesus complex about the main character saving the world. As a matter of fact, as the story progress, the characters learn that they are less than what they originally thought. But they fought anyways, even when it was clear that what is happening can not be stop but they kept going because even when you cant change the out come. Doing everything you can is still better than lie down and die. Did I mention, it came out in 98? This game tackle those issues intelligently and with sensitivity. Even most modern games fail to do that.
