Shounen anime and superheroes basically. He just didn't like how it played everything happening in it for jokes to the level that the audience didn't have anything to be invested in.
Pretty surprised that anyone would dislike the Cell saga, it has always been my favorite followed by Buu. I just don't get the love some people give the Namek saga, it just drags so much and has such a flaccid ending.
The Saiyan arc and basically every pre Z era arc was stronger than both the Buu and Cell arc. The Namek arc is long but it's not really any longer than Buu or Cell, so i disagree with it dragging. Especially the Manga variant.
But with the Buu saga things are constantly changing which makes it far more interesting to me than Namek.
