Heading to PAX East for the third year in a row, this time at the Colonade. Hope the PAX buses are decent as I do not want to drop $20/day on Uber rides like last year.
Jeff's response is my sentiment exactly. Watching this whole mess play out over Twitter has been exhausting and demoralizing these past two months. I didn't want to say anything lest I give credence to this "movement." I just wanted it to go away. Unfortunately, it just kept escalating.
It's a damn shame that the word "gamer" has now become such a loaded, politicized word. It's an even greater shame that there are people fearing for their lives over their opinions on video games. And the worst part about all of this is that I fear it may never truly be over.
While I find Ben Kuchera mostly in the right about the Forbes thing this morning, his bullying makes it hard to take his side. When most game journalists mentioned this story, it was a one-off tweet and they were done with it.
Kuchera, on the other hand, kept jumping down this guy's throat all day. Have a sense of decorum, Ben.
I don't like how they've held off til the eleventh hour to get this crucial patch out. Because this disrupts the review process, the informed public are going to look at this in two ways. They'll think that either the developer is incompetent and is rushing the game or that EA has no confidence in this game or the developers and wants to have public perception be dictated solely by their marketing team.
In any event, this isn't the way to establish a franchise nor follow up on a middle of the road first game.
