You have got to hand it to the creators of Giant Bomb to come up with a system that rewards users for helping other users with information. Positive reinforcement is always better in my opinion than negetive, and thats really at the core of Giant Bomb. Its a group of people passionate enough about the topic of video games and all they incompass to moderate and help themselves. I really believe that the people who come to this new web site are of a higher caliber than the run-of-the-mill gaming sites out there. It's also a testiment to the quality of users that the Giant Bomb staff attracts.

Yep I completely agree.  Helping Giant Bomb become even better with quality submissions, almost becomes addictive.  And yep, I have played Shaq-Fu too, I owned it in fact.  I really liked it back then, then again, I was really young.

The formula of GiantBomb is very addictive.

Indeed the points system is an awesome idea, it really makes people want to contribute that little bit extra by going out of their way to take time and write or think up edits to make an article even better.

Umm the points system I dont think is meant to be like acheivement points in that everyones trying to get the most. Its really there to be a buffer to keep people who are new (below 1000) from editing stuff and giving people who made 1000 the opportunity to make live edits. Edits are the point of this site and getting points only matters to be able to do them faster.

I understand what you are saying bear but the fact is there is a top user ranking page which means it is competetive.

You cant give the credit to the guys at giantbomb. There was a site just like this called comicvine.com  that was created by whiskey as well. They acually came up with the idea.
