Hiya. I'm Silver, a 17-year-old female gamer hailing from the extremely ugly and crowded "city" of Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm an Honors student at a high school whose name I won't reveal, and I'm a complete and total band geek. I recently got accepted at the University of North Dakota, and can't wait to go there (it's GREEN. Holy crap).
I've been playing video games since I was a little kid. The fondest memories of my early childhood consisted of watching my parents play video games: my dad playing Tomb Raider and Civilization, my mom playing Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, and both of them together playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Diablo. My very first game was either Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 on the Genesis. My tastes matured over time - while the old-school 2D Sonic games on the Genesis (Sonic 3 & Knuckles in particular) still hold a special place in my heart, they were later replaced by other, harder, newer games in terms of constant playing as time went on. Poke'mon Silver, my first Game Boy and Nintendo game, was an obsession (The game's timer read 999:99 less than two years after I got the game) I had at the age of nine and the years after that till Ruby came out. Sonic on the Genesis (and PC) gave way to Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon on the PS1. Those gave way to Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, which then gave way to Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikmin, and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on the GameCube, which gave way to darker games like Metroid Prime on the GameCube and Okami and Odin Sphere on the PS2, which gave way to more mature and gorier fare like Gears of War and Bioshock on my dad's 360, which prepped me for my now-favorite games, Personas 3 FES & 4, which is pretty much as mature as you can get without it being a total cuss (GTAIV)- and gore (Gears of War)-fest.
In general, I like the old-schoolish PS1-esque platformers like Crash and Spyro before their original developers moved on to Jak and Ratchet, respectfully, the old 2D Sonic games, turn-based JRPGs (ones primarily made by Atlus and Square Enix's FF remakes), shooters not named Halo, and adventure games. I also like puzzle games to a limited extent, but only in small doses. I'm not very fond of the sports and racing genres, action RPGs, the new Sonic games, and party games, and I absolutely despise Halo. Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration, the game's at least playable and fun with a co-op partner, but it's WAY overrated.
My top ten games of all time (at least until some new, mind-blowingly awesome game comes out. :P Kinda defeats the purpose of the "all time" part, doesn't it?) consists of, in order, highest to lowest, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES, Final Fantasy X, Okami (PS2 version only), Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Bioshock, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Super Metroid, and Odin Sphere. Maybe I'll elaborate on why each one is on the list later in my blog or something.
Some random facts about me:
- I'm everywhere on the internet. Chances are, if you see a Silverevilchao on another site, it's me.
- I like to draw lineart by hand and do coloring and shading on the computer. At the moment, the two are separate due to my lack of a tablet or scanner.
- My Holy Trinity of video game characters consists of Samus Aran (Metroid), Auron (FFX), and Minato Arisato (Persona 3).
- Blue is my favorite color, because of Sonic.
- My favorite Nintendo franchises consist of Metroid, Poke'mon, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and Smash Bros..
- My favorite non-legendary Poke'mon is Espeon. My favorite legendary is Lugia.
- My favorite Poke'mon version is still Silver.
- "Silverevilchao" comes from my favorite kind of Chao from Sonic Adventure: A silver-colored, Dark Flying Chao. However, not only is "Silverevilflyingchao" too long for most sites, it's just simply not as catchy.
- I want to become an astronaut for NASA.
- Favorite power in Okami is Bloom.
- Favorite god in Okami is Yomigami, God of Restoration. Moegami, God of Fire (though its literal translation is God of Burning), comes pretty close.
- Favorite Persona 3 character, protagonist (aka Minato Arisato) aside, would probably have to be Akihiko, though Mitsuru, Metis, and Aigis come pretty damn close.
- Favorite Persona 4 character, protagonist (aka Souji Seta) aside, is without a doubt Naoto Shirogane. Kanji is a solid second-place.
- Favorite Persona 3 Persona is Messiah. Kohryu, Thanatos, Orpheus, Kala-Nemi, and Odin all tie for second place. Mara (can only be described as "Giant penis monster with tentacles on a chariot") is a runner-up because of the sheer amount of lulz it entails.
- Favorite Persona 4 Persona is Kohryu. Loki, Amaterasu, Izanagi, Suzuka Gongen, and Mara (who they've somehow made MORE phallic) all tie for second place.
- Favorite anime is Utawarerumono. I would kill to have an awesome Persona 3 (and I'm not talking "ten-years-after-the-game" bullshit like Trinity Soul, I'm talking the actual plot of the game) or Persona 4 anime.
- I use GIMP for image editing.
- Music I listen to consists primarily of 16-bit Sonic music, a bunch of Metroid Prime tunes, some Kirby music, a bunch of Persona 3 music, a dash of J-Pop (usually from anime...and yes, I do have Zankoku na Tenshi no Theory on my iPod), some rock tunes here and there, and both the normal and sped-up versions of Caramelldansen. Once I completely beat Persona 4, I'll add the music for it to my iPod.
- I consider EGM/1up.com (R.I.P.) and GameTrailers.com to be the most credible gaming sites in terms of reviews. Not sure about this site yet, I haven't read any, though I find its lack of Persona disturbing.
- I also hang out on the Sega of America forums.
- Internet shows I like include Angry Video Game Nerd, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series, and Zero Punctuation.
- Favorite authors include John Scalzi and John Ringo.
- Favorite manga is Rurouni Kenshin.
- I'm of the belief that Naruto can go fuck itself. The ONLY redeeming factor about that show is the fact that Yuri Lowenthal voices characters in that show. Otherwise, it can go crawl in a hole and die.
- Yuri Lowenthal is made of pwnage - he voices Minato Arisato, Pharos, and Ryoji in Persona 3, Yosuke in Persona 4, and Cecil in FFIV. Funny thing is, all of those characters are some of my favorites in their respective titles.
- I'm in my fourth year of Japanese classes.
- I believe that art design is more important than sheer graphical horsepower and that good graphics do not make a good game.
...wow, that's a lot of stuff. o.o;; Most of it is totally pointless, too.
...
Ok, that's it for my bio. I'll probably start a blog here in a little bit...
