Smacked that back log around. Part 2

I finished Dead Island at 23 hours and I did nearly every side quest but I really wish you could keep playing after the final boss fight.  I went with the chick with guns and fully auto rifle was boss.  It tore up that last boss like nothing and it was only a green with 3/4 upgrades.  I was really sad that the quality of loot didn't improve.  I mean it was constantly whites with very few greens and even fewer blues and purples.  I did loot two orange, both revolvers.  Even for kicks I put points into the % find better loot and nothing.  Made me really stop caring to check loot because it was always friggin whites.  Anyway, can't wait for the next Dead something to come out.

At this point, I took a few days break to dabble in some anime and such but then started Ridge Racer Unbounded.  What a mistake.  I will be honest, the game play videos I seen made the game look really fun but the truth is that it is just a terrible game.  Check my review for my full thoughts on that shit.

I decided after RRU to play Soul Calibur V and while I'm not a huge fighter fan, I did love Marvel vs Capcom 3.  Anyway, SCV is just trash.  No jump?  Cheating AI?  Very short arcade mode?  Game focused 90% on online?  Yeah, it didn't take me long to beat the arcade several times, do the 'story', and try all the solo modes.  Just sad.

To get another fighter off the back log, I then played Street Fighter x Tekken and it was a huge improvement over SCV.  The gameplay was just so much better in every way, it was more fluid, less cheating, and fun.  Sure, the last boss in the arcade is damn cheap at times but thats why its the last boss.  Anyway, it had some pretty good amount of modes for solo with a lot of content.  Sadly, it is also focused heavily on the online part.

So between SCV and SFxT, the achievements sucked for both games unless you spend a big amount of time playing or grinding away and do a lot of online as well.  Because the games are just so short for solo players, the amount of time played vs points isn't bad.  For SCV, I got 12 achievements for 230 points.  For SFxT, I got 12 achievements for 140 points.  What put SCV so far ahead was the generous points for doing the story mode.  So for the amount of time played, it wasn't bad to get that amout of points but I really do wish there was more encouragement to play solo modes.

Currently I'm doing Star Trek Legacy that came out in 2006 which is probably the oldest game I have on the back log.  I do like the ship combat and such but wow the missions can be long with no check points/save and sometimes its not clear what your supposed to do.  Got the back log down to 42.  I did remove a Fable 2 DLC because I lost my save file and you need to have completed the game to play the DLC so I really don't feel like doing that any time soon.
