Tyler Miles is a detective in the New York City Police Department, and is also Carla Valenti's partner. While Carla has a very serious demeanor, Tyler has a much more relaxed attitude during investigations. However, Tyler is very committed to his job, and to his relationship with his fiancee,Samantha Malone.
While Tyler starts off being very upbeat towards the start of the story, the long hours on the job and the rapidly dropping temperature put great strains on him.
Tyler and Carla are the detectives who investigate the diner murder (perpetrated by Lucas Kane, though this is unknown to them at the time), and over the course of the game investigate the scene and narrow down suspects until Lucas Kane remains. Tyler and Carla split up often during their investigation, each of them exploring different environments and following different leads.
In his final appearance, Tyler is given the choice of staying in New York and continuing the investigation, or to leave with Samantha to Florida, and quit his police career.
