new film based on the hit game shadow of the colossus.. now that sounds ace even if the dude who made the street fighter films is doing it
Sony Pictures has tapped Josh Trank to bring Shadow of the Colossus to the big screen.
Mr. Trank earned his stripes directing the low-budget hit Chronicle, and has reportedly been a fan of SOTC since the Fumito Ueda classic launched in 2005 for the PS2. He sought out the project.
Now he gets a shot at a large-scale, live-action adaptation of one of gaming's most cherished pieces of art; he's responsible for bringing to life the deeply conflicted story of Wander and his quest to return his love, Mono, from the dead.
If you've not played SOTC, Wander agrees to a deal to make the resurrection possible that, on his end, has him slaying the majestic colossi that roam a forbidden land.
From the music to the landscape to the enormous, lumbering colossi themselves, Shadow of the Colossus ranks among gaming's most shining examples of how the medium can elicit emotion in the player.
The game also features one of the greatest horses in all of gaming, Agro, who acts as both companion and transportation for Wander in his travels.
Few other details about the film, including who'll be writing the script, casting or a release window, are available at this time.
