Skyrim's Daedric Quests Are More Evil This Time Around -spoilers

Over the weekend, I decided to take on a few of the daedric quests. Specifically, I completed Azura's, Boethia's, Namira's, and Clavicus Vile's quests. The lore of TES states hat the daedra are the evil counterparts to the Nine. While some of Morrowind and Oblivion's quests showed this side of the demon princes, I think that Bethesda's stepped it up in Skyrim.

I didn't kill the dog Barbas to keep the Rueful Axe, figuring that not killing him would get me the Masque of Clavicus Vile. I don't use axes anyway, so that was an easy choice. Still, that was one nasty choice.

I didn't have any issue killing Boethia's followers, or her former champion. However, I do feel really bad that I paid a mercenary to follow me, just so I could stab him in the face. The animation of him becoming bound to the stone was pretty disturbing, and that Boethia uses the dead body right away was pretty eerie. All in all I really liked that quest, but it was still uncomfortable.

The quest that I really had to sit and think about was Namira's quest to kill and eat a priest. I led the priest to the feast, and stood above him, deciding whether to eat him or kill everyone else in the room. I have a no-reload policy for these types of decisions, so I assumed that I would fail the quest if I did not eat him. Ultimately, I want to S-Rank this game, so I decided to go ahead and eat him so I'd get Namira's boon. I ate a dude to get achievement points. That's messed up.

Some of them are evil, though Azura and Meridia don't appear to be.

I kind of regret doing the Daedra quests. I happened to find a cabin where a group of Daedra hunters reside (I forget the name of their group) and the leader told me that they despise Daedra worshipers. I figured that I might as well kill the hunters, since I'm not good enough to be part of their group.

Barbas was pure dog shit. Shitty companion, terrible at carrying a conversation, though capable in combat, he deserved what he got. Only reason I didn't finish the job myself, is the fact that I use greatswords.

The quests, though, are the best thing!

Oh - Sanguine isn't evil either. Just finished his quest line tonight - it's worth doing. He gives you an awesome staff.

TIP: If you come across a guy named Sam Guevenne at any inn/tavern, participate in the drinking contest with him.

Anyone know if these guys (Stendarr's Vigil, I think) have quests if you avoid the Daedra/werewolf stuff?

Yep, Azura is pretty much the only Daedra that's purely good (she frequently aided the player character throughout the Morrowind main quest). Meridia is a bit more ambiguous, as she was sort of the villain in Knights of the Nine, but she mostly helps mortals and fights the undead. Malacath could also be viewed as good as his main objective is to protect and help the Orcs.

I don't like that in order to complete them you have to essentially be "bad". The quest for Namira and Molag Bal are ones that come to mind... that don't let you choose a "better" way... I like playing good one play through and bad the next, but these quests make you behave badly. I have no problem not getting the items if I do good, just give me the option to be a good character.

Molag Bal aka The King of Rape.

He seems fine to me.

Hermaeus Mora also isn't wholly evil either, He just runs a Library. A rather big Library. Neither is Sheogorath, big fan of Fish Sticks.

@TheAdmin: The "Good" option tends to be to avoid the Daedra like Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon, there really is no way to be "good" with them. Would have liked having different quest lines open to those that don't follow the Daedric ones.

Yeah but Molag Bal's quest and Namira's quest blew my mind by the evilness of it all. Also it's kind of a bummer that there isn't a way of completing the Molag Bal if you wanna be a "good" guy. Either you never start it, or you ignore it.

After finishing A Taste of Death I killed every last one of them.

I think that evened out my karma. Just do that.

I played a good guy and did the Molag Bal one last night - clubbing that trapped guy to death is pretty awful, but the Boethiah worshippers are evil shitheads, so that was how I justified it, haha.

I was more disappointed because I'm not spec'd for maces , so the reward was kind of useless to me. At least it fetched some good coin.

Yeah! Molag Bal should definitely have had a good way to do the quest! "Molag Bal is the Daedric Prince whose sphere is the domination and enslavement of mortals. He is known as the King of Rape. His main desire is to harvest the souls of mortals and to bring them within his sway by spreading seeds of strife and discord in the mortal realms." Seems like a nice guy to me!

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed by that as well, I wouldn't have minded if going against him would've resulted in some severe punishment, but not even getting the option to do anything but follow the quest objectives, and just having the game wait for me to do what I was told if I didn't act as he wanted me to was really disappointing considering the amount of freedom they generally give you in these quests.

I didn't lie to the dude I rescued from the Forsworn, and was hoping he would tell me what I could do to help him desecrate the altar, but I only got "This person is busy" whenever I tried to talk to him after setting him free, and back in Markath I tried to do everything to help him, but the only options I was given was to beat him up and then kill him.

Yeah. I wanted to take that guy back and piss all over molag bal's altar. But they give no alt version to desecrate or anything. I really wanted to give that prince what's what, but the quest was only one option. That was my main gripe.

@TheDudeOfGaming: I didn't feel to bad about Molag Bal's quest, the guy I was beating glitched out of his cage while I was hitting him, so he could have run away, but he didn't.

So that's my sign that he wanted it, therefore, clear conscious.

they are quite fucked up, i couldnt help playing a evil character pretty much for the first time ever in a game... they were too fun :(
