XBLA Game Collection

List items

  • One of the best XBLA releases out there. It's fun, looks great, and has good replay value. It's also fairly easy to S-rank.

  • Great time waster.

  • This is a fun two-or-more player game that plays just like the board game.

  • A great update on the classic Pac-Man formula, but became obsolete when Pac-Man: CE DX came out.

  • Faster, more frantic, more fun. Pac-Man: CE DX is a wonderful reflex game. While easy, it's still a blast to play.

  • The visual aesthetic and sparse sound effects provide wonderful atmosphere. I think it's a bit overlong, and there's no real replay value, but it's really well done.

  • One of the most hyped XBLA games. Braid is well conceived and fun to play. Like other games of its ilk, there's really no replay value once you beat it.

  • This game is hard as hell, but it's really rewarding once you beat a level. This is one of the best XBLA games available and is worth every penny.

  • Geometry Wars is really fun, but you should skip it and get Retro Evolved 2 instead.

  • The best of the dual-stick shooters on XBLA, GW2 has a great visual style, thumping music, and surprisingly varied game modes. The leaderboards will have you constantly trying to one-up your friends.

  • This is the best brawler on the Sega Genesis, hands down. The port adds little, and isn't necessarily worth the money unless you get it on sale.

  • Fuck this game. Seriously, it's ridiculously hard to the point where it's simply frustrating (unlike Super Meat Boy which never feels cheap). It's a well done retro title, but it's simply too damn hard.

  • The PS1 classic still holds up today, and is a ton of fun no matter how many times you go through it. It's pretty cheap and packs a good length.

  • 'Splosion Man is really well done, and has a wacky sense of humor and great music. However, the game is a bit one-note and feels repetitive at about 1/3 of the way in. I never finished it because I just got bored going through.

  • It's Peggle alright.

  • It was more of a tech demo for the 360 than a proper game. It's not worth the money.

  • Puzzle Quest is fun in short bursts, but each match goes overlong and the story mode just keeps going and going.

  • Castle Crashers is a must-play brawler which gets more fun the more people are playing. The look and feel are really well done. Unfortunately it gets a bit repetitious, though you're constantly unlocking new characters and levels which makes the grinding feel like it's worth it.

  • Alien Hominid is a 2D shooter in the vein of Metal Slug. It has a great art style, with punishing difficulty. There's a minigame collection to pad out the value which is a fun diversion.

  • Boring.

  • This is a dual-stick shooter (sort of). I found it to be really boring and uninteresting. There are better shooters on XBLA.

  • I have no idea what this game is.

  • This is a side-scrolling shooter, but totally unmemorable.

  • It's Hexic; no doubt you've played it a ton.

  • Wonderful story and visuals, with a good combat system. You'll likely want to play through it twice to see everything. Another gem on XBLA.

  • Damn cute, really frustrating, made my wife mad. That all adds up to a pretty good puzzle game.

  • Beautiful, if a bit repetitive and overlong.

  • I really liked the first three Sonic games, but I really hated playing this game. The level design was too claustrophobic and you just don't have enough moments of raw speed that make Sonic stand out.

  • Well, there's not a lot to this game, but it's fun as hell. I've never made so many stupid poses.

  • I really wanted to like this game more than I did, though I can't exactly put my finger on why. It makes a lot of reference to old-school games (none more than River City Ransom), but I think it was just trying to hard to be cool.
