It was some unfortunate misgendering and deadnaming, ie. using a persons "old" name from before they came out as transgender. SWERY apologized and said that he never intended for anyone to be hurt by his words and was able to get at least a small fix through the developers, but apparently it wasn't a perfect fix at all.
I truly believe the issues stemmed from cultural differences (ignorance, if you will) and that he absolutely did not intend any harm. I mean, of course. It's SWERY. He's as kind and open as they come.
I think people are forgetting that SWERY and his company didn't develop or publish the game, he was a contractor. He just wrote the story. It was very likely not his decision to not completely rectify the missteps, and I imagine there wasn't a shit ton of monetary overhead to completely redo parts of the game.
I also think the replies in here are disgusting and way over-reacting.
Everything in the game is accessible without paying a dime, except for some seasonal cosmetics. You can complete the game, go everywhere, upgrade your flight meter, make friends, upgrade your expressions and get new capes, masks, instruments, hair and pants - all with the candles you collect by playing the game and the hearts you either get from friends (infinitely by them paying 3 candles) or from spirits (you pay 3 candles, finite number).
It can be a grind, sure. I don't think they've finished balancing it yet. Especially the hearts take longer to get than I'd like, and for some of the nicer capes you need a lot of them. But to call it a soulless money grab because you can speed up your cosmetic collection is quite a reach.
I think it's definitely an interesting release. I hope the console release will be a premium purchase and that everything will be rebalanced towards being a paid game, though.
I paid for the seasonal pass because I want to give thatgamecompany my money, and have been playing it every day. I don't really feel like it can bear that content-wise or is even suited for it, but right now it's necessary if you want to unlock everything from that pass. They need to rethink and/or rebalance that for sure. I hope they have big plans for the future, I would love for this to be a world worthy of revisiting once a week or month or so on console.
There are several things in Denmark that are meant to put you off getting a car, like there's some pretty heavy tax on owning a car and the government will even give you some money every year simply for not owning a car. I went to university in Copenhagen for one and a half years and even I got that payout once even though I just lived there.
Denmark's most iconic pastry is called "Vienna Bread"?
Not that I'm throwing shade. In the US, we have a hot dog restaurant chain called "Wienerschnitzel" which definitely doesn't serve schnitzel.
There was a baker strike in Denmark in the 1800s which led to a bunch of Austrian bakers getting hired here. They introduced a new way of making pastry dough, which ended up getting adopted by the danish bakers and used to make their own style of pastries. Hence the name.
This was really well done. Good job guys! Also, since all the condiment juice is in the back walls of Dan's hotdog, are you supposed to dip the weiner, take bites out of it, and eat your way down the bun?
No! You just eat it like Dan did. the entire sausage is coated in whatever condiment(s) you selected.
It wasn't really a spoiler until they specified which person they talked about, which they only did because they were arguing about whether or not it was a spoiler. Bruce Willis was a ghost all along.
For anyone else that spent time trying to figure out what brad was referencing at 23:54.
