The thing that scares me about what you posted is that I'm not entirely certain that isn't some sort of sick my little pony snuff porn that some guy drew so he could jerk off to it. *shudder* . . . internets . . . *shudder*

The thing is, it's not funny and it's not a joke. That whole "I'm a grown ass man and I'm into a cartoon about ponies that my little sister grew out of at least twenty years ago" thing is sincere, apparently. They justify it by telling you "yo, dawg, it has really clever writing by that chick from that cartoon about four little girls". I guess that makes them feel better about it.

To each their own, I guess. However, Bronies are just something for me to get a cheap laugh at from afar the same way I do with Juggalos. Actually, that's not fair of me to say. They amuse me from afar in the same way, but I didn't mean to imply that Bronies would rape their own mothers paint cave drawings on the walls of their own homes with feces like Juggalos would.

PS: I'm sure it couldn't be worse than most of the cartoons that kids watch these days, I suppose. I tried to watch some thing on Netflix called "Johnny Test" (presumably a pun on Johnny Quest?) and ejected after one episode. It was like the fever-dream of a kid with ADHD. Hurt my eyeballs and my brain to watch, simultaneously and didn't do much for my ear-holes, either. Cartoons have always been pretty mindless and dumb as long as any of us have been alive, but for fuck's sake that was a whole new level.

Oh, also, I can't wait until whatever company owns the rights to this IP sues the magic and friendship right out of everyone involved. That's going to be a kick. :P

And don't know why people have to be say spiteful towards this show and its fans. Maybe the creepy fans who only serve as a stereotype to disuade other people from giving it a chance or a sense of understanding from people who like it. Much like some stereotypes for anime, board games, and video games. I don't watch the show outside of some clips on the internet that i've seen but I don't feel the need to hate on the people who enjoy it. From what I understand the creative team behind the show is stellar and most of people who have seen a significant portion of it and talked about it all say it's clever enough for more than children to enjoy.

I watch Young Justice and I have watched everything in the DCAU and even the straight to dvd movies that have come out. I rather enjoy Regular show and Adventure Time. I guess I deserve hate because they are all cartoons.

And don't ask people why they liked the show and when they explain it to you you respond with "Well your wrong." or "Your insane and don't know what good is." It just shows an unwillingness to understand where the other people are coming from. Unless they are doing some dirty shit. Then maybe that's warranted.

I was a bit confused at first because I thought it was a joke that 4chan brought up but then I earned more about it.

This is honestly true.

Other than Young Justice (And maybe the new Thundercats, we'll see how it keeps on) My Little Pony is one of the actually quality all-ages cartoons going these days.

It's very well animated, not particularly exclusionary in content (I.e. depending on current pop culture references like stuff like Family Guy and Simpsons for a larf), has a great voice cast, great background music and other than the fiendish agenda of selling toys, a nice message in the end.

I find it honestly charming and a treat to watch, but I'm not gonna be writing my own fan fiction or jerk off to pony porn. (At least not yet?)

The rabid pony fandom is... troubling, but I personally can't see any fault to the series itself.

When you think about it, how seriously can you take criticism seriously when it comes from a bunch of people that hang out on a sight where the premium content is watching some kinda over weight duders play video games.

In the interests of not knocking it until I've seen it I watched that "Lesson Zero" one posted above and it has a cartoon pony breaking a bear's neck and another trashing then nuking a barn, while the lead pony slowly goes bat shit insane and causes all the other ponies to fight each other. It was pretty intense.

The show has some anime style to it in a similar vein to the Powerpuff Girls which I watched a few of way back in 2002 because that was a Tartakovsky joint. The tone is pretty decent with an easily relatable lead who has a bunch of archetypical friends that add colour. If it wasn't My Little Pony it'd probably be less divisive and hence less popular.

I really don't see dudes liking this as any different to dudes liking Clarissa Explains It All back when I was a kid. However Melissa Joan Hart was pretty hot which is more than I can say about these ponies.

All my friends seem to be into it, but I have resisted the pull. I watched a couple episodes, it is a quality kids show that def works in some solid older humor. I just rather play videogames with my time :-P.

I don't really see why this is a problem. A fanbase is making a game based on something they like, which happens to be a good kids show. Not to mention the creator is Lauren Faust, who did a pretty good job of making Powerpuff Girls a show for both genders, as well as humorous for both children and adults, despite their main three protagonists being little girls. She and the rest of the team really go out of their way to respond to their fanbase as well, either by generally responding to questions, or by adding loads of easter eggs and little inside jokes made by the fans. It's implemented in well enough for people outside the brony fanbase to still enjoy the episode as well.

The fans are actually a surprisingly cool bunch as well. Part of the fun is just talking about it. Since this is a pony show with little girls as the original demographic, most, if not all, of the fans are very open minded people, and are actually quite funny too. There are those that spread the images too much and try to infect people with the 'pony virus' with jokes that outsiders won't get, and I fully understand how that can be annoying, but those aren't really representative of the majority of fans. Each episode ends with a moral as well, so the general kind nature of the show influences the fanbase into being an understand and kind group.

For those trying to 'get' the show, I wouldn't really recommend the first two episodes for anything other than to see the characters get introduced. While I though they were decent, they certainly aren't the best of what the show has to offer, and since the episodes (for the most part) aren't in chronological order after the first two episodes, you can just skip to the good ones. I'd recommend "Lesson Zero" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3F49D1WiQ4) and/or "Party of One" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1EPEBW9IcU) since those were my favorites, although "Suited for success" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IbSVL4W9DM ) was actually the one that started me off. If you still don't like it after that, then its just not for you.

@PenguinDust: laurren was the storyboard artist, writer, director, supervising director of ppg so theres a additional connection for you :P

laurren foust also worked on kids next door and fosters home for imaginary friends i liked fosters but never watched kids next door, but i understand its just as good.

basicaly to every one who are wondering why people like it so much its becasue it was made by such a cartoon dream team including the writer and creator of my life as a teenage robot. writers from all the good cartoon network shows from our past such as johnny bravo and dexters lab. just look at the wikipedia page and look at the track record of the people working on it and think, people who are 90's kids like my self who look at cartoons today and thing good god everything is soo terrible and pandering have a show made by people who did the shows they loved

also thanks to some frends who now have kids i know this is a thing and what the hell

Having nieces and nephews I occasionally have to watch My Little Ponies and other kid shows.  I can say that My Little Ponies is one of the least offensive children programs on the air.  I can't say I enjoy the show but I can say I tolerate it more then most of what is considered suitable kids programming.
The whole "brony" thing is just creepy.  I don't care if the art is good or the show is well written because it is intended for little girls.  The idea that grown ass dudes and even ladies have taken what is essentially an infomercial for Hasbro and perverted it into some weird obsession is really gross.   These are the same people that took a series of games in which a blue hedgehog runs fast and fetishized it to a point that I am embarrassed to admit that Sonic Colors is actually a pretty decent game.

@Village_Guy: It's a decent kids show. Actually, I'd probably go as far to say it's a really good kids show.

But it's still a kids show, and I'm not sure what the appeal is for males or older audiences.. besides Rule 34.

I'm not a "bronie" or whatever, but the show is actually pretty great. Don't get me wrong, it's obviously targeted at young girls, but it's actually a quality show. It suffers from the usual AND THEN I LEARNED A LESSON every episode, but if we're going to look upon a show negatively about that, we are being a bit fickle.

The fact is, it's a show with top-notch animation, pop culture out the wazoo, and pretty genuine and wholesome. The writing is pretty good, and it's enjoyable to watch.

It's very reminiscent of the sort of stuff I used to watch on Nick in the 90's.

I don't like Friendship Is Magic as much as Adventure Time, Regular Show or Phineas and Ferb, but I still have a good time with it. It's in the same mold as The Powerpuff Girls which isn't surprising since the creator of MLP:FIM (Lauren Faust) is married to the creator of PPG (Craig McCracken). I scratched my head, too when the internet craze began, but I came around due to the charm of the show. It's fun and this new fan-created project is an expression of that fun. Why does everything have to be negative so often?

Rainbow Dash is pretty awesome...not Buttercup awesome, but up there just the same.

Internet-people hating things they don't know shit about, just like everyday I guess.

If you want to hate on My Little Pony then go watch the two first episodes of the show and come back and hate it (http://www.youtube.com/user/BeanyOne#p/c/875B9A32B0B1E1A0/0/q6sUJR1GiGI part 1 is here!)

As for the game I like some of the looks and the music, though I'm not too much into fighting games.

Slightly Off-Topic: Another cool looking pony game is Cutie Mark Crusaders: A Dash of Adventure, which is a point-and-click adventure game (http://www.manestreamgames.com/)

EDIT: I'm kinda disappointed in the Giant Bomb community right now, you guys are usually awesome and friendly, but it seems quite of few of you just came here to say that MLP:FiM is stupid...

I actually watch the show. I guess that makes me a brony, but I don't buy any of the stupid toys or such. I was also extremely skeptical, but as a forced myself to understand the phenomenon (the first few episodes were pretty meh) I came to appreciate the humor. It's nothing extraordinary really, and it's certainly not the best thing ever (although people like to pretend it is to piss off non-bronies).

Anyway, the game looks nice but I have about zero interest in it.

I don't know; I had created the original thread with that question in mind. Fans say that it's clever enough to appeal to a very large audience other than children, but perhaps there's some more complex, crowd mentality thing going on too.

If you google hard enough you will find the answer. It isn't hard. However a good amount of people that ask this question are really looking to spout more nonsense than to be educated. I questioned this a lot until I actually decided to see some episodes for myself (most notably the last episode of season 1 and the first two episodes of season 2).

At the very least it's inoffensive and does have some good humour in it from time to time as it gets better after the first couple of episodes as it was an all new show at the time. Even with most of the characters being female ponies, it proved it didn't have to have a completely corny show just because of the premise, title and the childish aesthetic. However the internet (as always) will continue to bash the show because it's just too easy to do it when the title itself has the words 'Friendship is Magic'.

Also which other show has a flying pony create a rainbow mushroom cloud by smashing itself into something? Or have a crazy god voiced by the dude who played Q in Star Trek next generations basically act like Q in this show as well to screw around with the protagonists? This show is definitely not for everyone (even Hasbro doesn't know how to market to this unexpected audience), but I can respect that the creators are doing some good work there.

It's an exceedingly simple cartoon show aimed at little girls. I don't mean that as a damning statement about the show without seeing it, either. I watched an episode. It's exceedingly simple, repetitive, pandering, boring, and pointless. It's a children's cartoon show directed towards little girls. What does a grown person see in this that they could possibly enjoy it?

It's not even that I carry any particular animosity towards My Little Pony. It's just...why this? Why now? What makes this so deserving of such treatment over the countless other shows and toy lines over the years? How come no one ever took the time to hand animate a Care Bares or He-Man fighting game?

zero interest in the subject.  but it's hard to be critical of people getting together and creating something out of nothing.  good for them for actually doing something rather than just watching other people do things.

Allow me to put my fingers in my ears for a moment:

LA LA LA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU. MY LITTLE PONY IS SURPRISINGLY CHARMING AND FUN, I CAN'T SEE OTHERWISE. NO ONE IS BEING ANTI-FRIENDSHIP AND MAGIC HERE. NOPE. NOPE. NOT AT ALL. LA LA LAAA~

...Anyways, I think this sort of stuff is really cool when a community/fanbase becomes dedicated enough to want to make their own project based around something they're really enthusiastic/passionate about. I'm also actually pretty excited by this because it looks like it'll actually be really really good.

Yo, this shit is fuckin' dumb.

I really couldn't have said it any better myself. Listen, I "get" it when people talk about how Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of their favorite shows. I don't agree by any stretch of the imagination, but I can at least see where people are coming from when they say that. This? This is just dumb. A fan-made fighting game based on a semi-clever cartoon aimed at 10 year old girls that the internet has managed to adopt out of sheer irony is not something that anyone should spend their time making. Ever. Ponies are DUMB.

Oh crap. Sparklykiss is going to ban me now.

No, YOU'RE DUMB. :< (Not really. I'm only joking, don't be mad at me joking about you being dumb! Opinions!)

...It's not like I've got a list of people who openly bash My Little Pony here... Nope... Not at all.

Oh insecure internet people and gut reactions to things they dislike...

Well the quality for a fan-made project is surprisingly well done and their attempts to find voice actors to mimic the main voice actors in the show is indication of a team that is genuinely enthusiastic about the franchise and what they are doing. Good luck to them.

I...want to play this. Goddammit, saying that makes me feel weird.

I won't lie: I watched My Little Pony right after Glo-Worms when I was a young kid. Why? Because I'm a man and changing the channel would've taken effort. There was a part of me that ended up kind of liking it. I wish I could murder that part of me...but it continues to live somewhere. I think it's the same part of me that likes the movie Daredevil.
