Pretty obscure one. PS1 or PS2 game (leaning towards PS2?), you play a nerdy office worker guy who has to run through buildings away from a rolling boulder or giant bowling ball or something. Mostly I remember running towards the screen and jumping over stuff. Probably Japanese.
Mine's about 20+ but I like to prioritise the games that people might still be talking about in ten years from now. Last few months I finally got round to Batman: Arkham Asylum, Portal 2 and Dead Space 1 + 2. Currently completely immersed in Mass Effect 2 for the first time. You'll have more fun playing a truly great game from five years ago than you would playing a pretty good game from last month, so just pick whatever's actually best.
I would suggest stealing something slow and driving around for a while, then when you're better grab something a little faster and repeat. I'm a long time racing game fan (a racist?) but if I'm gunning a sports car through Vinewood at top speed I'm going to hit something within six seconds. Just take it slow.
