Everyone came to the camp except for Russell. That was a bummer for me.

I agree with the sentiment that a lot of the decisions felt a little murky, not in their moral stance but in their execution. As some other people have said, the Vince decision was kinda unclear as to what the actual intentions were. Same thing with the Bonnie killing Dee. It was a gruesome scene but didn't feel entirely earned... felt way more cheap than the majority of the first season. Probably my least favorite episode. Not terrible, just didn't have that tight scenario design that the first 5 did and the short length did make it tougher to connect with some of the characters (I didn't care for Bonnie, Wyatt's chapter was over in a blink... though I really liked Shel).

as for my decisions, I

shot Danny

stayed in the car

killed Stephanie

left Nate

told Leland the truth

Killing Stephanie seems mildly controversial. I killed her because she stole a ton of supplies while leaving. It kinda is against my own moral compass but seemed right at the time, for Shel, for whatever reason.

It's funny - Molyneux says the reward is "life changing", everyone laughs it off, it comes out and it's maybe mildly life changing (depending on how much money is made) and then suddenly it's a big deal. Huh?

This was cool. It could've been some lame piece of "life changing" wisdom, and that would've been lame. It could've been JUST money, which would've been great for the winner but not nearly as interesting. Instead, it's actually pretty cool. I like it.

I can understand the viewpoint. Sometimes I find that the guys unnecessarily dump on things. The great part about GB, and it's still there, is that there is usually someone who likes something so it's not a huge hate-fest. But the bombcast has always been about so much more than just games for me, so I don't find myself getting tired of it.

Unless they're talking about MGS. In which case I just shake my head for a while.

Their views on MGS are insane.

I still don't know if they like MGS or hate it. On one hand they're like "oh my god, MGS4 was the perfect ending to the series with everything resolved! How can they taint the MGS universe with all this constant retconning and prequels!" On the other hand they're like "MGS is dumb, who takes Kojima's bullshit seriously?" So I have no idea what the fuck their stance is on MGS.

Yeah, it's weird... they seemed to have really soured on MGS in the abstract since MGS4 came out which is strange because the 2 releases since then went unplayed (peace walker) or they seemed to like (rising). I guess it's okay to not like MGS but yeah, their views seem so opposed - they like and also hate it for being dumb, sometimes they say it's too dumb, sometimes they say it's too serious... Who knows. I've just learned to tune it out because it's one of the few games/series that i know that I simply know more about than they do, and they don't have any desire to flip that. Oh well.

I think this might be epitomized by "snubbing" MGSHD collection for best HD collection award in 2011 and giving the category to SOTC/Ico collection. Pretty funny stuff. I was expecting the Halo/OOT remakes to take it since they were full fleshed, but no, somehow the MGS upres isn't good enough but the SOTC/Ico ones were. These silly motherfuckers! Gotta love 'em.

Sometimes I'm amazed at the perception people have of "health" and what is/isn't healthy. A lot of FUD and childish perceptions of OMG ARTIFICIAL.

have stopped drinking beverages other than water and coffee on a regular basis, but sometimes I'll have a soda with a meal and I'll go for diet because I find regular soda too sweet.

For all those that don't listen to the Bombcast regularly (you know who you are) this week (4/9/13 broadcast) is one of the funniest, most entertaining episodes I've heard in a few years.

Came here to see what the consensus was because I was cracking up on the train to work, probably looked like a madman. I always enjoy the bombcast but this was a particularly great episode.

Jeff's review of Catherine convinced me that I'd like the game, and I really enjoyed it.

You know how the "teenagers save the world" trope seems so common among JRPGs? I think FFVIII does a good job of messing with that. Squall and his friends are soldiers at 17 years old. I'm biased because it's one of my all-time favorites, but when I replayed it recently I was surprised at how the story held up. I think it's really interesting. The "..." and "...Whatever" jokes about Squall are accurate but I noticed that it has a TON of inner monologue, more than any other Final Fantasy character I can think of. He struggles with things. I think it's like Catcher in the Rye - it'll really click with some people, and others will be turned off because the main character can come off as unlikable. It's also pretty quirky on the gameplay side. I think that, for a discounted price, and avoiding the ire of people who expected VII-2, there's a really interesting game in there. And it also has a really awesome soundtrack.

VII is still a fun game, but the translation is so bad that it can be tough to figure out intent from a lot of the lines. I don't mind the way it looks, but the characters don't animate well, there's no facial expression, and then combining that with text that very often makes no sense can make it tough to figure out just what the heck is going on.

Ryan, Jeff and Alex put Forza Horizon at 6, 5, and 5 on their lists, and it got pushed off by Brad and Patrick (who haven't played it) saying "it's just a racing game." Probably the only real bummer of the last podcast for me. Clearly the three who had played it didn't find the need to fight for it so it ain't a thang or anything but it's lame from my perspective because it's one of the most fun games I've played in a long time, racing or otherwise. The ones who played it felt the same and the ones who didn't dismissed it in pretty bad fashion. Oh well. Fun times at the end of the year. I enjoyed the last couple of podcasts a lot.

Patrick calling twisted metal 'dogshit' is weird when he thought it was alright during the quick look and TNT. Getting ready for more Patrick moments to make me crazy.

He really does have this all or nothing tendency when talking about the quality of games/movies/etc doesn't he?

I really like listening to Patrick but he does have this tendency to have these moments of crazy hyperbole. Like this with twisted metal, he called twilight princess a bad game, some other ones.
