I work at a retail place. It doesn't bother me as much since my position at the job is fairly laid back, but a few months ago the manager of the store decided that absolutely nobody could get overtime, so if you go over your hours, you come in later or take a longer lunch during your next shift. There's one overnight manager that will often keep you over your time if things are not done, and sometimes asks some people to stay later to help other people finish up their work.
Personally I don't mind it that much because I enjoy helping people if I can. The problem with this is that if someone has to stay late and cut the time off later, that's less time the person has to finish their work when they decide to cut their hours later in the week, so the cycle continues on for days where people can't get their work done because they have less time to do their job. Needless to say, it's quite frustrating for some people.
