- Joystiq's X360Fancast is kind of grandfathered into the Joystiq community -- it's existed for a very long time and is really just the guys that already played the 360 getting together to do it for fun. It did not even used to appear on the front page until Stiq 2.0. They do offer a regular Joystiq podcast as well, which is often times more informative. I don't see them as biased for having it. I also wouldn't count on them ever having a ps3 fancast, wii fancast, pc fancast, etc.
- Both consoles give you identical gameplay experiences. So who really cares?
- Plenty of online forums are overrun by ps3 fanboys, you might just need to look a little harder. I could see GB being tilted more toward the 360 in the community due to the achievement tracking system (a lot of people join because of it), but who knows.
In summary -- no one cares what platform you play on as long as you are having fun and can play with your friends.
I will pretty much only buy games when they are on sale. With that said I feel like I got my money's worth out of BF1943, Shadow Complex, Castle Crashers, Magic Duels of PW, and Splosion Man. It kind of makes me sad when I buy a game for $5 on sale on XBLA, but am struggling with a $5 Steam sale purchase of a full game.
This really took me by surprise, as I don't feel like I've played that much of this game at all. Is this the point of no return? I would like to get as many achievements as possible on the first play through...
I have just passed the part where Swift was killed for treason. I am then told that I need to travel somewhere else on a boat, and it's going to take a while, so if you have stuff to do you better do it now.
They keep referencing this point in the podcast, but I'd really like to know exactly where it happens, even if it involves spoilers.
" I'd love to see how high these numbers would be if piracy wasn't so bad. A man can dream can't he? "
Yep, there would be a hell of a lot more Xbox 360 sales without such rampant piracy... You see what I did there? I have a feeling Diablo 3 will bring some gamers back to the pc that may have left for the past few years. "
False equivalency. "
No, not at all. Let's take a very popular news site that happens to have the name matrix in the title and look at upload dates and number of copies downloaded for the latest big release - Call of Duty Black Ops
Xbox: CoD:BO was uploaded on 11/1 (a week before release) and has been downloaded 21,713 times PC: CoD:BO was upload on 11/8 (already out in Europe) and has been downloaded 11,233 times.
So I would say it's pretty easy to compare the rate of piracy between both platforms. I should also point out that with the Xbox version you can play online, with the PC you cannot. This whole PC gaming = piracy argument is a bunch of BS.
edit: PS3: CoD:BO was uploaded on 11/8 and has been downloaded 2,507 times
These pre-release benchmarks are always so bunk. I'm waiting for a real review (hardocp review) before I make any judgments. Just looking at the first chart's 480/5870 comparisons (which doesn't use real numbers with units for one) proves that it's in no way factual.
